Chop?

The trichs look cloudy with no amber at 71 days of flower. Pakistan Kush. I flushed 3 days ago and the leaves at top of plant are dry and wilting. I have patience to wait for amber, but do not want the plant to go over the limit if it never develops amber trichs.
I have heard some plants never get the amber trichs. It looks done other wise. I originally wanted to get all amber, as I want a laid back buzz, but the leaves wilting at top buds is troubling.

It is a landrace, so flowering times are vague. I am leaning towards chop.

71 days seems like a long time for no amber trichs....did you look at the buds under a metal halide or fluorescent light with a microscope? i find it difficult to see amber trichs under hps/incandescent light since they are yellow lights ... a white sheet of paper as a background also helps give the trich color some perspective. i'd think there's got to be some in there after 71 days.

You just might want to continue the flush. You said you were not in a hurry. It is hard for me to tell but it looks like it has lost most of its fan leaves. I do not think you are going to get too much more out of it, but I do not think a few more days will hurt. All cloudy trichs is good. I am one of those people that never get to many amber, but I usually see a couple. You might want to check lower buds on the plants.

Yea, I just read up on using a white paper as backgound and after using it, I did see just a few amber trichomes. Also saw a few on the mazars I am growing. The mazars have some white pistils and clear trichomes in the mix tho.
I have decided to chop this friday. thanks

Thanks for replies. I looked at the trichs with a piece of white paper under a leaf and did see a few amber ones. I was looking at the trichs while the leaves were on the plant, and could not see the colors that well. I think I will chop her this friday. Hammerhead- The main cola is more mature than the rest, but I want to keep all of it together to keep it simple when drying.

Some plants never amber... especially if not super happy at the end of flower. With that said 70 days for a landrace strain is nothing/very short.

Nice fat top cola you got there, yesum.

On a related note, I have been wondering something as my harvest date comes closer. Do you judge trichrome "ripeness" on bud or sugar leaves? It seems like the sugar leaves are going amber faster than the buds themselves.

looking good i would be checking for trichomes on the calyx's themselves as leafs yellow and stuff like that and you smoke bud not leaf(unless your down and out) so id wait till the calyx's are ready.....what you can do though is very carefully cut off a single calyx to examine under the scope be easier to work with on a flat surface..

i have found one of the best tricks to be sure about how your buds ripness/readiness is, is to cut a lower branch off and hang it over my comp for 3 days, after that you can smoke it and get a very good idea if you need more time and flushing or if it's they way you want it, considering the main part will already be 3 days older and curing will also make it better.

the wilting could be from being thirsty, maybe another dose of just water will stop the wilting near the top.

peace
