Back in the Dark Age when I was a little boy (in the 50's) for all you youngsters. My folks use to bow hunt carp in the Hudson or Mohawk rivers in New York State. We used to take the carp home and put two carp under each hill of corn in the garden. Put the seafood under the plant, but with a couple of inches between the plant and the seafood. That way the roots will reach the new source of food after it has had a chance to rot and turn into fishy golden goodness for your plants. The Indians showed the Pilgrims how to fertilize with fish. It worked then it'll still work now. I wouldn't use this method indoors, might stink. Hope this helps. It would be an organic source. Hope this helps.

I wouldn't put the raw meat/tissue any place close to the roots. I believe it is way to hot in the initial decomposing stage and can fry your plants. Maybe someone can confirm this but better safe than sorry. If you want to do it try only a % of your plants and compare the results.

My buddy uses a fish at the bottom of all of his outdoor plants. In a Brute trashcan he puts in 6" of rock, 12" of soil, a fish, and top off with more soil. he lets it sit for a few weeks and then plants his cuttings in it. been doin it like that for years with good results. theres no discernible fish left a the end of the season when we empty the cans.

ya i would not do it because of the smell animals will dig up your plants to get the seafood i used alaska fish fertilizer one time and all my plants where dug up and all the dirt dug out and the plants where placed beside the hole coons or some animal smelled the fish because that stuff has a strong fishy smell if you have never used it well and way that is my 2 cent i would only used composted seafood

Noway would i do this..Unless ofcourse ur growing in ur backyard, with a fence..

Noway would I do this in the Bush/woods unless u have no raccoon, fox, bobcats, opposum, bear, mink, coyote's, and/or otter's in the area..All these animals will lick there chop's when they smell that shrimp...Just my 2 cents!
