Sometimes they will do that when they're root bound. I had a whole room of plants, many different strains strart throwing pistils at around 40 days veg, I am certain they werent root bound so I take it as a sign of sexual maturity.

So long as we're not talking autos, the short answer is yes and no. Yes, if your plant size and/or numbers are substantial to ring the harvest bell. No, if you need more vegging to satisfy your quota.

Might need a couple more details to venture a guess. Same strain/variety? Flowers everywhere in veg indeed sounds interesting but preflowers doesn't sound out of the norm in itself. In my experience individual preflowers don't multiply at the same node unless they're auto or the veg light hours are unusually short to maintain necessary vegging for quota purposes. Or, to put it another way, they're already in flower mode :). I'm reluctant to venture less than 14 hours in veg and have seen varieties differ in the onset of preflower as many as several weeks. Of these non-auto varieties, none transition to flower with 14 hours on.

it means your plant is sexually mature. some people will veg plants for as long as it takes to show pre-flowers. your no longer force flowering once pre-flowers show... meaning less stress on the plant after the light switch, and less stretch. it's a good thing.

..now i comprehend whAt is happenin with my plants...i have grown about 10 crops but never vegged them for long..they sure look different when you allow them to mature like they are supposed to...the less stretch factor means a lot also...thanks a lot hopleaf..

Good advice.

Just a normal sign of sexual maturity. Usually presents after 3 to 6 weeks of vegetative growth. The only problem with waiting until they show sex via preflowers is that the plants can be pretty large by that point. I like growing large plants, so it has never been an issue for me, but if you want to do a sog with short plants, you'll need to force flower and remove males as they present.

I've noticed through the years that cuts without pistils produce better than cuts that start out preflowering so I always try and take pistil free cuts if at all possible

All strains show sex in veg with preflowers, 90% by week 3 the rest by week 4. Have to post when I see this topic. I started posting this around 10 years ago and generally the reply would be as above that some strains do and some don't, usually they would say hazes or sativas would show later. Not true!! All of em show brothers/sisters, swear to ya. You need a magnifier, i use an eyelupe 7X, start looking when you have at least 6 nodes and by the time you have 9 nodes there will always be at least one preflower somewhere along the main stalk, above the fan leave behind the stipule, in front of the emerging new growth. What? I mean between the stipule and the new growth. i'm thinking people aren't sexing until they see pistols and that's when they think it's showing for the first time. You can see the preflower and it's sex, sometimes weeks before they show a pistol or a male cluster. i always catch them the day/night they pop out (preflowers), as a bump and within a day or 2 at most can discern the sex. You can too.

Even if they are pre-flowering, you don't HAVE to put them in flowering right this second. I'm assuming they are sexed, and there are no males. So keep them in veg, pre-flowering or not, until your other plants come down. Flip and flower. :)

luvto, my hubby could speak more to this than I can, but we just grew out a bunch of seeds, and although a lot were able to be sexed in veg, my hubby still put a small clone of each one in a neoprene collar in a cup and put them in the flowering room. and there are a couple that we still haven't sexed yet (smaller ones). i don't think you can 100% tell the sex without putting a small clone into flowering. maybe Mr. Mountain will correct me. I'm still learning!

My clones show by week four and seeds usually do by week 6. I let them veg for a total of 15 weeks and LST like crazy. All in less than 3 feet. lol

are your plants under 21-24hour lighting?
if yes, Your plants are tired.
they need the down time to turn the starch that the leaves make into sugar, This can only be done when the lights are off and they need a minimum of 4hours or else they will start retaining starch.
stressing from nutes, tampering with roots are other causes of this but most of the time a plant shouldn't just pre-flower in veg you had to do something to it.
ain't never heard of no strains pre-flowering just because they think they are ready a plant can't just sex unless it has ruderalis in it.
Flowering is a genetic thing a timer per say inside the plant, inside each individual cell.

I Don't know where these people are coming from and saying plants just pre-flower in veg
it's impossible a plant isn't just going to get cognitive thought one day and think to it's self *hmm i'm tired of vegging time for me to start flowering*....
it's a plant not an animal or a mammal, it doesn't get free thought and decisions it follows the genetice code imbeded into it....
anything outside of a plant growing, flowering, making seeds and dying isn't in it's genetics, im about 90% sure your problem is man made thats it.

Upon mentioning ruderalis earlier you could have seeds that were bred into or out of ruderalis and there is still some lingering genetics from it but it's highly unlikely either you get all or none with ruderalis or so i can say from expirience

and this quote is a crock of shit. PLANTS DO NOT HAVE A BRAIN!, what in gods name were you smoking when you actually thought this was true?
chances are your lights were on for too long and your plants got tired....
