Okay, growers, smokers, and all icmaggers. If you got a set of decks, drop a link for a short video of you throwing down (less than 2 minutes, we all have short stoner attention spans). Preferably a scratch/juggle session, but whatever is cool..., I'm sure most of us would. But c'mon...old school throw down, lets see what you guys got.

sadly I dont have a video, although to be honest not that much really happens in my sets in 2 minutes... I'm a DnB/House/Techno dj not a scratch dj/turntablist :)


here's a couple of bits of mine in mp3.. one is about 45 mins of chillout/hip hop (still no scratching ;)) and the other is about 55 mins of raucous jungle amens.. mostly ragga style levels get a bit hot towards the end of this one, but it was live so I couldn't "re-do" it as such :)


both files are around 100mb hope some of you like em..


I also be playing a live sesh later today on dirtybass.fm (3pm CET)... though I haven't decided between plinky bleepy electronica and good ol fashioned reagge as yet :)

Yea, I'm a house/tech dj. Sadly, 2 minutes wouldn't due much justice either. I wish I could do some ridiculous scratching for the fun of it though!

I started off playing house in the early 90's but thankfully I got into the real art of two turntables & a mixer!!!

I hear a lot of babys/scribble drops & tears... I see you mainly use crabs, My self I mix it up crab & twiddle as you get a much better sound....

Is there a more used sample then Fresh I doubt it.....

I see you use concord stylus, my self I use the Shure m447 I know they eat records but they still hold better then anything else I have used...

nice little session.. shame about the tune though!!!!!

Yea, i have other styles and cuts I bring out, sometimes a chirp, orbit, or 2-click flare....but I have to admit that I've become somewhat crab-dependant, and tears are just my shit. I was schooled by DJ xxxxxxx a few years back and tears just became THE way to backspin a record. I do mostly serato, so I dont need the m447s ripping into my signal records, plus the ortafones have taught me to be more light-handed.

Thats my problem I'm heavy handed & there is nothing I can do about it!! I was taught by an ex DMC champ not going to put his name up. But he tried in vain to get me to light touch the records but no I cant do it... it's even worse when stoned....

Have you tired to chuck the twiddle into the middle of crabbing??

you know how to twiddle??

im strictly old skool, cant stand the shit being played today, its too simple and insults my listening intelligence.

Props to greenmorpho for starting this thread!

Was in the mood to do some messing around with video in the middle of the night a few weeks ago and the result fits the time length.

It's Not a battle video though, just my first attempt at recording myself while I practice and it cut out after 2 mins lol

Tried to capture my mood light as well but I didn't get the camera settings right until after -.-

I'll do some more vid sets soon with a short battle set on serato. I'm limited by my M304 house/club/techno mixer with it's 44mm P&G fader but I do my best lol! New scratch mixer later this year..
