Stealth Grow Help

Hi all! well to start off I am an experienced NorCal out door grower "the 80's " but new to the indoor thing. Here's my setup, an 50 cubic ft. homemade tent in my closet, 250 watts of cfl's #6 NL babies fox farm OC soil FF grow big nutes
I am in an apartment so I can't remodel at all!
Now on to my problem I need to design a " Cheap Quiet "scrubber fan to exhaust under the closet door! the exhaust and intake area is 3/4 in. by 27 inches long so I'll need to build a reduction box secured to the door with flexible hose, scrubber/fan will be in tent, and above all it has to be quiet Now I think I have a plan to make this feasible but would love the input !!
Thanks Love and Peace :friends:

well with most of the blowe fans we use the fans dont make much noise its mainly the airflow that makes noise so what i did was made a muffler out of some boxes stuffed with polyfill and sound deading(i had this laying around) and also have to account for duct length also....insulated ducting helps on the noise as well carbon filter....there is some diy fan mufflers to be found around here simple to build also...im using a squirrel cage blower(140cfm) in my tent thats about the same size and it sucks in sides of tent..but i have ducting running to a/c so it pulls in all that nice cold air to keep my tent nice and cool....post back if im not clear enough i will try to help you as i needed mine to be quiet...now i cannot tell the difference between tent or the window unit(which runs 24/7 anyways)

Thanks Durka good tips I think I will use a 4 inch inline fan/scrubber with a box around it filled with polyfill that should work ! Happy Growing

yep that should work i used a smaller usps shipping box but its too small imo id use a box that was about 18in tall and 8in deep 8in wide...so it can be ultra quiet...hell you can even take a broke down ac unit to put in the window if anyone asks its the ac....hehe good luck man oh what kind of tent are you using a dr60 or gl60 something like that? because im using the gl60 and loving it!

Ya durka I will work it out with some kind of box ....and the tent I made with panda film/plastic and metal poles for about $30 us dollars. DIY the only way to go !

nice man...yeah i was gonna go with diy but i have back problems now so i cant build like i want to and this is easy tear down and i only paid 118$ for my gl60...and i would just upgrade to a HPS light if your gonna use 250w of cfl draw same ammount of power for more lumens with HID and also alot more PAR with hid...but you will do good regardless!..have fun man!

how about buying another door for your closet so you
can cut holes in it, then when you move, put the old
door back up.

also, if you have the dough, you might consider going
with PL-L's rather than standard CFL's.

if you're unfamiliar with PL-L's they are just a different
style of CFL, one where the ballast isn't built into every
bulb plus, the bulbs are straight rather than twisted so
more efficient delivery of light and with the ballast placed
outside the grow space you have much less heat to deal
with.

heres a couple pics of my clone box where you can see
the PL-L's i'm using, 4x 55watt bulbs that measure 23 inchs.

and here's a couple of the ballast in back.

anyway, i hope this helps man.

peace, SOG

btw, here is a link where you will find a full discussion
on these lights with links to suppliers and all wiring info.

PLL Club. (if you don't know, now you know)

Ya the problem I have is kids coming in to the main room so no holes in the door, my exhaust and limited heat must move under the door at an angle away from fresh air going in, so stealth is my goal and this is a temporary setup. Those PL-L's are impressive and look to be in my future Perpetual sog box!!! Thanks for the Idea's Love and Peace
