I think carp fishing in the summer is great. Took my gf out for the first time last summer and she caught an 18lber. I'll be getting the rods out any day now.

any of you have mulberry trees overhanging the waters that you fish? when those are ripe, they will fall in water & draw in MONSTER carp from all around. bait is easy to find too,,,:)

Holy shit! OUTSTANDING! Anytime I go out I usualy just end up drunk!

Here's a little 20ish from the st.lawrence in long sault. I live 10 mins away from long sault so thats where i fish most often. Haven't been out much this year. PB is a 32 and they can go to 40+ round here. Love carpin. Gettin baked and the waiting game begins. Waiting for the alarm to scream with an all shoulders carp. Good times.

after i found the glories of ice fishing i've pretty much let my rod and reel collect dust. obviously i still love getting out when i can, but it's a waste of time compared to ice fishing.

Ice fishing is usually a reason to go get drunk. It is fun though.I would have to disagree with that statement, better then summer fishing.

ice fishing has its toimes but ive caught far more with more fun memories in warm weather , just that ice fishing is alittle slow around here . did go to lake gogebic this winter but not much action -huge perch though

Man cool thread and nice pics..... I LOVE FISHING....all of the stress from everyday life falls away as soon as you get out on the water.......

My favorite fishing is fresh water fishing for large mouth bass..small mouth are fun too... As far as salt water rivers go.....I dig Speckle Trout fishing using crank baits.....Rock fishing is fun as fuck too.....pretty much a salt water bass......but alot bigger....nothing to catch 30 pounders.....Ive seen them get up to 60 inches and 60 pounds.....now thats fun...I live in a huge fishing community...water is all around me...lakes, ponds, rivers, bays and the Atlantic ocean....fishermans paradise.....

But nothing beats night fishing for large mouths....get a good full moon and slay 'em....early spring fishing for large mouths is pretty close though....

again, cool thread.

no pix, bro, but i'm into ol' buglemouth bass ! i like to fish for them in early summer when mulberries are ripe. use a flyrod & "plop" a berry on a hook under an overhanging tree, & watch them lips come up! folks think a carp won't jump, hook one about 15# using twenty# leader so he won't snap you off, & watch those suckers leap...they will flat out churn the river up, LOL! :dance013: AOH

thats all we do is carp fish the ol miss and MO river but sadly im not there.

Ice fishing....hell yeah...thats one kind of fishing i have never had the pleasure of trying...i want to though, I bet its tons of fun....Id love to have a little ice house....be able to cook food and stay warm and get high as shit and still ice fish....sounds so gnarly...Id love to try it someday...

in my area the winters are longer than the summers. the fish caught during winter are consistantly bigger than fish we catch in the summer. i usually only fish for walleye, and when there ice on the lakes 30+ inchers aren't uncommon where as in the summer you will never catch one over 22 inches. as for bass fishing when the top layer of ice melts in early spring and all that water starts running into you holes you catch 5lbs bass all day long. don't get me wrong i love fishing period, but i have better luck with ice on the lakes.

oh ya and good luck getting drunk where we fish...beer freezes in about 2 seconds.

when i was 21 i caught a 40 pounder,i still have a pic somewhere.i used a scale, took my weight and then me and the fish,so it was not incredibly accurate, but it was 40 pounds give or take.i had to run behind it because it was spooling me.

i once caught a 40lbs white perch or drum as the locals call them. i have never seen one before and we caught it on a bigass bullfrog on a trout line.

Around here, Winter fishing for bass is when you catch the bigger fish...Its just a harder way of fishing....You have to slow the bait down and pretty much use something big enough for them to make it worth the energy they use going after it....In the winter time to catch the big bass, i like to use jig heads with a pork trailer....it makes the bait look alot bigger and something worth going after....Winter bass fishing is tedious, but well worth it if you know how to do it or get lucky.....

i been once during the dead of winter and caught a ton of huge perch. we caught a few nice wallies, but nothing like the stories i've heard about the spring walley run. thats been on my must fish list for way to long now. that looks like one hell of a walley you got there brother. i can't really tell from the pic, but was that from the ice?

I lived in Minnesota for 30 years.I know all about the beer thing all to well.I went from one extreme to the other, as far as climate goes.It all depends on how far below zero it gets.We used to just watch it closely and bring in the beer now and then.Kegs worked pretty well in the below zero mode, running the tap line through the window gap and sticking a towel in the gap.Good memories.
safe groing
