Mothers or clones of clones?

So what do you guys think is the best route to take: having a mother plant or taking clones of clones? What I mean by clones of clones is you veg a clone out and right before you flower it you take a few clones off of it and repeat and repeat before every flowering cycle. I have been taking clones of clones for a while now and have recently debated switching to keeping a few mothers. What do think, what do you do, and what are your experiences?

i personally keep moms, im too paranoid about the clones i take from the plant not rooting or what not, and then losing it. i have heard a few times that taking clone from clone degrades things, but then also heard other people say that thats not true. hopefully someone with experience can give you some insight. good luck.

In my experience is does not matter as long as they are healthy cuts. The degrading thing is Bullshit. Shoreline has been around for years and is a CLONE ONLY STRAIN. and I always take clones of clones and keep one just in case something goes bad. I have good luck with the small ones I would trim off anyway.

Thanks for the reply guys! I have been thinking about ways to keep my canopy even more uniform. Since I have always taken clones of clones, I have taken cuts from different parts of the plant just before I put them into flower. I will always take a clone from the main stem top and usually a few more on various others parts depending which looks like it will make a nice clone. My canopies have been pretty uniform, but could be a little bit more uniform. So I was thinking if I take cuts all from a few mothers this would help this, what do you think? And anymore input on mothers or clones of clones is much appreciated :) I'm not really worried about the degradation of clones over time issue that much though, I know others feel strongly about it though.

I'll keep moms for about 1-2 years. Once she gets too fussy I will flower her out and replace her with a clone. Clone of a Clone of a Clone of a Clone will still give you the exact same plant.

there are many apples to this day that are clones of clones dating all the way back to the Roman Empire. This is where most Apple varieties were actually developed. If thats not proof I don't know what is. Romans loved their apples even more so than Americans do. yum

keeping moms is more of a convenience than a necessity. I think if you've got something you want to run a couple hundred of you're gonna need a nice big mama.

I've always taken a couple cuts from the bottom right before flowering I dont think anything can be simpler.I did blockhead for 4 years this way.

You only can see a REAL difference at the 30th gen...so don't be worry!

So I've got this shorleline grow going. You can search it. Amazing strain, clone only... All clones... actually all clones of clones for at least the 5 generations I've been going. No decrease in potency. Actually been smoking this stuff for more tha 8 years. So...I don't know if you're right about this. Consensus is against you, imho...

Where do you get the numebr 30?

I know a guys that is vegetal biologist! For there test they go until 5th gen...to be 100% sure to have same plants with no transmutation but he assured me that we will not be able to see a difference between a 1st gen and a 30th gen in weed. Weed is a though plant. What's the point to go until 30th gen? In weed world people usually try a lot of strain so they not even reach 10th gen. So don't worry about this.

apple and many fruit or nut trees come from the region of Afghanistan and Tajikistan. the fruit and nut eaters of this region are of the same descendants as Christ known as the Essenes.

well its possible, cheese a uk clone only has been around for along time only by cloning clones and its as sstinky and powerful as ever.
