Is my NEIGHBORHOOD being powerwashed?

Well for the past hour and a half or so...My bedroom has sounded like it was being powerwashed by my parents like they do every so often. As I wandered out of my bedroom to go give them a piece of my grumpy half-asleep mind - I noticed that neither of them were home. Outside there is a big truck with something coming off the front and a guy is walking out front holding the hose contraption and shooting what seems to only be compressed air. Is this not what street sweeping trucks accomplish? Because in the 90 minutes they've been at it they've moved about 60 feet...this is going to take them WEEKS.

AH! That was my first thought as well!!!

BUT they finally made enough progress to reveal their true intentions - which I could have probably noticed first time around had I not just woken up/had I looked for a little bit

Apparently they are making the cracks in the road REALLY REALLY clean before they fill them in with that annoying black pavement that just turns cracks you don't notice into a million little bumps. Jackholes -.-

Some idiot spray painted 666 and all kinds of other stupid stuff on the sidewalk where I live last year, and they sent some guy out with something that sounds like what you're describing, and he blasted it all off.

They do this when they are going to hot-tar/seal the black-top where it meets the concrete curb for weed control/ice/water damage in colder climates. (if applicable to your area)

This big truck actually has a portable xray device in the back and is recording all the homes that have high intensity lights in them...people of the world cover your homes with drywall coated with lead!!!!
