Highlighter The highends have been showing me some really nice vigor much more so than even inside...Had one show sex last week earliest ive ever seen sex on any plant around here...

It's really been dam good weather this year my tomatoes are doing great too...

I hate the deers cause they eat my plants but i refuse to lug fencing in i just continue to plant till they leave the spot alone...

Those plants look really nice there gona get huge come the fall...

I'm still running indoors but it's been taking a beating cause of every other thing i'm doing right now....

Miguel215 Thanks man don't even worry about it,it's all good around here...

Update time....

Went to go check on my grave yard spot only to find outta the 6 plants only 3 and 1/2 made it and they were hungry so i top dressed with some chicken poo...

After i was done i decided that i was gona trek to see if i could find a new spot and so i did...This spot is facing from all the way east to some west so i think i should be able to get 6-7 hours or more...

Went up to my HOS spot to mulch and found that one of the highends was showing sex and it's a female which is dam cool as it's still really early also took some cuts off most of the bigger ones and super cropped some..

Didn't take any pics of the other plants just the highends..

The one on the left in this pic is female got cuts being rooted by my good friend bozo as my veg box is still down for now...

This one is branching like crazy....

I pulled some of my potato's to thin them out and make some bigger hills after this pic...They taste so dam good nothing like eating success:)

Been have bug problems with this garden first it was aphids now it's cucumber beatles then i think i got rid of them with some insect dust...

Now today i took a look at one of my squash plants and saw the it was wilting as something burrowed into the stem so now i'm gona have to do some research...

The owner used this space to garden last year and used nothing but MG chem ferts and i'm fighting these bugs since the soil is still weak with the good bugs by next year things should be up to par...

Take care and stay safe out there...

....I also plant clones out in july thanks to silverbacks method called the 60/60 force flower approach this will be my third year using it.....

Any updates on your plans to use this growing technique this year? I have Cinderella 99 cuts that are rooting right now, they should be ready to pot up soon should I flip them over to 13/11 like silverback said, or just plant out and let them veg a little and flower when they are ready? Any advice?

Your grow is really nice, growing guerilla style is hard work but the payoff is so sweet!:plant grow::smoke out:

We've been having some record heat wave around my neck of the woods.....

Temps have been 90-104 so far almost everyday i didn't have an air conditioner before but after 102 it was just brutal so a friend had one laying around so i took it....

The plants should be ok as they say we should get some rain at the end of the week hopefully.

gaiusmariusIt sucks but they did get to my other squash and there's some nice big ones on the vine already....Only way to save it is with Bacillus thuringiensis strait into the vine and my ass is broke right about now lol....

badbeans I normally just put my fast finishing clones right out no 12/12 only the long flowering ones or the ones from seed get 12/12...u don't really need to 12/12 the fast finishers as there photo sensitive as soon as they hit the dirt and u had the timing right they should be ok no veg at all really.....

Dr_TreThank you...I try my best to keep things on the good side as life is too short not to enjoy it....

I'll be getting some clones ready to put out in the next few weeks
still waiting for the day light hours to drop to where i need it...

I also put 2 clones from the highend in 12/12 2 days now so should know sex soon hopefully before i get back out there...

Stay safe out there

Hey IPiT, I'm w/ you on the weather. Not a big fan of A/C, but weather like lately makes me glad to have it. :D
I've been watering a gal. ea. daily. Gotta serve the plants in weather like this!
Highends are looking good! nice one on the early girl! Hope the cuts reveal more girlies.

Sux about the borer. Ya win some, ya lose some. :dunno:

Least the 'heatwave' has broken. I can deal w/ 80 + weather, but you know what they say 'round these parts, " it ain't the heat, it's the humidity"! :muahaha:

Deer problems

Deer problems

I don't know if it's been said in this thread yet, hopefully I'm not repeating someone here...

I find that the deer leave my guerrilla spots alone if I circle them in urine. herbivores do not like plants that have hi urea/nitrate contents and the human smell is offputting enough by itself. I see this with our cows as well, and many other ruminants, they avoid areas that have been urinated on (by any creature including themselves for at least a month). We use intense rotational grazing and there are areas of very lush looking grass that they won't touch because it has been peed on.

Plus you get the added benefit of the urine as a fertilizer, just make sure that if you're doing it on a regular basis that you're letting the sodium precipitate out of the urine so it doesn't clog up your plants.

The urine also helps if you're using organic fertilizers like blood meal that attract carnivores so they don't trample your plants and dig them up while trying to get at the meal.

Awesome grow by the way, you sure are doing a lot of work there, kudos!

g0vnaa Thanks bro that one turned out to be female too...

Bom U know your always welcome bro...

plough Thanks for stopping by...It's been rough but the heat wave has pass thank goodness...

Highlighter I'm a fan of A/C's but as the old saying go's "It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it"....As it turns out the cuts were all male :( except the one i knew was a female already....

CitrusHigh Thanks...I've used my urine before but that didn't stop them as if there hungry there hungry...Another friend gave me some really useful info on keeping the deers away i wont post it here as some would find it quite odd but it works...

I've been meaning to do and update for awhile now but before i get in to that i want to talk about what i've been reading....

I've been doing tons of research on cover crops and in my doing so i ordered a seed catalog in the catalog they had some books and one book caught my eye.....

The name of the book is "Teaming with Microbes A Gardener's Guide to the Soil Food Web".

I must first say that i thought i always had a deep understanding to some extent but after reading this i now know what lives in the soil, what they do,what they look like and how to make them work for me...I also now understand that plants control all....

I borrowed the book from the library but now i'm gona own it soon as it's a must read for anyone that gardens.....

Another thing i found while searching for cover crops is this site that has all the research that the USDA did with hemp from 1901 an how they used cow peas as a cover crop and cow peas meal also http://www.globalhemp.com/Archives/Government_Research/USDA/

It made me mad at first to know that they did this much research but weed is illegal just because of pot smokers fucking bull shit...

I also found this great video that u guys are gona dig the shit outta The Refractometer - An Indispensable Monitoring Tool...

From now on my yields will just be going up and up....

Now on with the update....

Went out 2 days ago and pulled 23 male :fsu:i knew i was gona pull males but this year is just terrible because most of them were so nice oh well gotta take the good with the bad....

Took some shots of some of the males...

I'll start with the bagseed males at HOS spot...

Now the highend males all 3 in the same hole...
roots

All the plants in this pic on the left going all they way back were males of the golden cindy X RKS,(AK99 XFreezland)X Kalichakra, and bagseed...

Now on to some female's

Bagseed female's pulled one male outta the same hole also took 3 cuts each already...

Now all the bozo fem's

The one on the right of this bozo fem is a highend cut of the one that was first female hope it makes it..

...

All 3 of these highends were female...Luck of the draw and there getting big too got cut's also...

I got 1 ppp female one unknown and a (ak99XFreez)Xkali male on the right...

There was one male and one unknown of the lifesaver X sweet tooth f2

Part 2 up next

Part 2

I moved on to the EOTB spot....This is before i pulled the males..

Some bagseed males

Still waiting for sex on these bagseeds..

This is a highend female

This is after all males removed

Now on to the veggies

Garden 1 this pic is a few days old as there much bigger now..

My beans got hit by the Mexican bean Beatles but they are almost done anyways

My cow peas

I harvested my bok choy and white radish and made some chicken stir fry that was just dam good....Planted another run for the fall and some carrots in the empty spaces...

Some close ups of the tomato's

Mountain pride

Cherry

Pumpkin

It seems i've beaten the squash vine borer by keeping the plant happy with compost teas as there's just the hole left since it's done eating and went into the cocoon stage to be a moth...

U can see at the base where it was pushing out as it eats

Flower and fruit off the same vine..

Thats all for now hope to bring some AK99 X freezland clones out this weekend to fill all those empty holes i also need to check on the grave yard spot soon...

Stay safe out there

Nice updates IPIT your grow and garden are looking real nice. Killin' the males ... a necessary evil. Some of my favorite plants have been males, I just do it cause they arent giving me bud so they gotta go. I'm going to keep a few males and experiment with making a few crosses this year , make up some seeds for next years grow!

FYI there is a post about this book over here in the Organic Soil forum

Teaming with Microbes: The Organic Gardener's Guide to the Soil Food Web

I'll be looking for your next update.

yes indeed great update, it's cool to see all your plants doing so well. you a very productive gardener k+.

what a shame you got 3 males all in one hole, talk about bad odds. do you have anything to replace in that hole? shame to waste the digging and lugging of earth lol.

peace

badbeans I read that thread and also got a book outta of it that i just got done reading called "The Rodale Book of Composting: Easy Methods for Every Gardener" turned out to be a great book.....

gaiusmariusThanks i try...I got tons of males this year but it's ok...I just put 5 ak99Xfreeland clones out a few weeks ago now but thats about it and i didn't lug any dirt to this site it's all native...

I've been meaning to update this thread but i've been busy trying to enjoy the summer before its over...Plants are looking great went there last week took my tripod and was gona take some good pics but as soon as i took the first few the battery went and that was a bummer so i left all pissed...

My other gardens are doing ok been eating all kinds of stuff now...i did not win like i thought about the squash vine borer they killed me...My corn got eaten by rodents so i didn't get a full ear but got to taste it and it was really sweet so i can't fault them for wanting it lol..

Been doing alot of reading just got done with that composting book and then read
"The Ruth Stout No-Work Garden Book: Secrets of the Famous Year-Round Mulch Method"
This lady had great insight for her time she was doing what soil scientist now know to be the best way to garden 40 years ago...

I also got done with "The great American tomato book" if you love tomato's it's a good read...

To help me understand the soil some more i'm reading "Life in the Soil: A Guide for Naturalists and Gardeners" very detailed book i'm almost done with it...

If u have the time try to read those books they turned out to be great books to read...

I'll try to get some pics up but there not really much to look at just waiting on some buds

Hey you said this heat was was behind us! Hey that was one of the hottest July's on record! How's ur girls do? I still need to read the rest of this thread. I got excited when u said u were growing potatoes, too, and subscribed, but I need to keep up on your pot plants, too! Seems like a nice variety....Are they from seed???
I'm trying to make some feminized seeds this year, and then maybe high tail it to the Southern Hemisphere. I'm thinking an extended summer might be nice. :)

Miguel215 The girls should be ok even in all this heat as i mulched them up pretty good..This year was all from seed things didn't work out the way i wanted to but oh well....
I got only 5 clones out this year and i think thats all thats gona be put out as it's almost to late for anymore...

I'm with ya on making some fem seeds it's been on my to do list for over a year now just haven't' got around to it yet but i will lol...

If you head south you could harvest all year round that would be sweet...
