Hey I am in my late 40's and I think the video was a little naive. I agree with much of what was said and I hate the greed centric world we live in but I have to say many of the baby boomers helped make this world it didn’t happen in spite of you rather because of you.
To say make love not war just doesn’t work even the Eastern philosophy that many "Hippies", I guess that’s the term, follow don’t believe in being a passivest they promote self defense and yes some war.
I wish it was easy as saying "Hell no we wont go" but it isn’t the sons and daughters that died in any of these wars died for your liberty. Am I saying these wars were all justified “hell no I wont go” but to take a complete "Make Love Not War" attitude fly’s in the face of being American that’s how we won our liberty and your right to protest.

The video points out many truths but doesn’t seem to point to the fact that the Hippies were also part of the problem. We all have the right to vote and if more than 35% of us did vote especially "local voting" we could change the environment we live in.

I will give your Dirty F@%King hippies credit for that you got Nixon to pass environmental laws and you brought people together to care about something as a group right or wrong people voted and I wish we could get people to do that but its just to damn easy to live off the government to piss people off enough to vote.

That right there is one of the worst things your generation did was all the welfare that exists in the US. Sounds immoral when you read my statement but if people didn’t have full bellies they would be a lot more pissed off at what these “Dirty F@%King Politicians” are doing to our country. “Make Votes Not War”

it was. the war was stopped. the draft ended. and the military's still bitter about that. without today's all volunteer force, (and people like you), America's involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan would've already ended.

but it isn’t the sons and daughters that died in any of these wars died for your liberty.

i'd like to believe that these brave folks died for liberty. but Vietnam was not threatening America's liberty; nor was Iraq, Panama etc. and these days the vast majority of people who join do so because they want the benefits - the gi bill, training, schooling etc. these are mostly poor folks. and they die for many reasons - but most of 'em are just seeking a better life.

Am I saying these wars were all justified “hell no I wont go” but to take a complete "Make Love Not War" attitude fly’s in the face of being American that’s how we won our liberty and your right to protest.

America did start out with a revolution - if that's what you mean. but are you saying because America started with a war that it must constantly be at war? that America can't more aggressively seek peaceful options?

um ... welfare came along in the 50's and 60's. hippies were still smoking weed and protesting in the streets. these programs were put in place by powerful old men of a different generation.

I make no arguments with anything you said but the above the 60's was part of the Hippie movement. Although I new the first social programs started due to the great depression(1930s) I should have stated that I omitted it on purpose to get my point of view across here is where I get the rest of my argument.

These social programs are worse than heroin in my opinion. They are good in theory but in practice I see so many problems because I see it as heroin. The keep people from a new revolution, which is what is needed. Like the video I am so tired of old white guys running the world. Just in case I come off wrong I am a liberal and voted for Obama and I have no problem putting that out there either. My wife was on food stamps and had to go to HUD so not to loose her home. That’s when I found out how ass backwards these programs were. They don’t promote personal responcibilties they demonize it. She never missed a single house payment as a single mother she went to get help and they told her to stop making payments stupid. Welfare promotes laziness and I have seen it in practice. Not through people but through policy.
As the use of these New Deal welfare programs exploded over several decades, the administrations of John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson of the 1960s saw a resurgence of public interest in issues regarding minorities, the poor, and children. During this time, new welfare programs were created to help address the continued spread of poverty, homelessness, hunger, and medical problems—difficulties that plagued many of America's citizens. The Food Stamp Act of the 1960s attempted to address the nation's problem of hunger by providing another means-tested program for the poor, the disabled, and single-parent households, in the form of food stamps. Also established was the Medicaid program, which was means-tested and offered medical care to poor children, people with disabilities, and the elderly. Unlike Medicare, the health insurance program for the elderly, Medicaid involved financial contributions from the states. These programs continued to exist into the twenty-first century, although many restrictions and time limitations had been added.

These social programs are worse than heroin in my opinion. They are good in theory but in practice I see so many problems. They keep people from a new revolution, which is what is needed. Like the video I am so tired of old white guys running the world.

yes, the hippie movement occurred in the 60's. but hippies weren't part of the government at this time. hippies were in rebellion. so it's not really fair to blame them for the political decisions of others.

Your right the "Hippies" were totally powerless. Not all the people at protest were hippies.
