Feinstein again: Congress May Double Penalties For Pot Brownies!?!?!

As if any of us would ever give one to a kid.

And if a kid got one, they'd get so high, they'd be uncomfortable, and it would be a turn-off.

I wouldn't give pot to an underage person, but if I went crazy and changed my mind on that one, I STILL wouldn't give an edible to a child. They are potent . . . .

Remembering the cookies that we had to tell people to only eat a bite of . . . . .

^doesnt matter what party she is from. most of them are anti pot due to fear propaganda, or personal interest. For example, Joe Biden is one of the original proponents of the drug war.

and the fact that most grew up in a privileged home and have no clue about real life, real people or real issues.

That is so true, vta. People just believe all this stupid propaganda about pot. Only experiencing it for themselves would change their minds, but they are so brain-washed, they will never give it a chance . . . .

The only law I can think of that was created with the WON'T SOMEBODY PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN excuse that's actually legitimate is lowered speed limits in school zones. There are things that should immediately set off red flags in peoples' minds. "Think of the children" is certainly one of those.

What about the wonderful political camouflage sayings such as...
' Support the troops'
' We must sacrifice for the greater good'
' Every human has a right too {what ever your trying to loot}'
' God'

And how are school zones legitimate? Think of how much production is lost slowing down for those little bastards. Why not just teach them to stay the hell out of the road? Or build schools some where less traveled. where they are less likely to get in the way of the real world.

I used to laugh my ass off when I'd hear dana perino say the taliban hates us because of our freedom.

I watched a youtube video of a guy in china filming a cop doing his job. The cop never once asked him to turn it off or harassed him about it, the cop ignored him. Try that in America, "the land of the free", yeah right.

But let one of them get cancer or MS and then they're screaming for it. Fucking hypocrites. What I want to know is, who put the burr under her saddle? How would she even KNOW about pot brownies unless a lobbyist was bending her ear?

^i wouldnt be surprised if this is just her defensive response to the possible passing of prop 19. either that or she has some lobbyist pressure.

This is how the liberals in Congress want to protect your rights as care givers and patients. Those of you who voted in the Democratic majority, thanks a lot!

Pot brownies under attack

By PATRICK GAVIN | 8/2/10 11:52 AM EDT

The 'Saving Kids from Dangerous Drugs Act of 2009,' which passed the Senate unanimously on Friday, may help squash one of the sneakier ways of getting high: pot brownies.

Congress might be more clever than you think. The U.S. Senate approved anti-drug legislation that may help squash one of the sneakier ways of getting high: pot brownies.

The "Saving Kids from Dangerous Drugs Act of 2009," which passed the Senate unanimously on Friday, includes language that could make the fines and jail time for cooking and distributing pot brownies double those for possessing regular (uncooked) marijuana. From the bill:

(1) UNLAWFUL ACTS- Except as authorized under this title, including paragraph (3), it shall be unlawful for any person at least 18 years of age to knowingly or intentionally manufacture or create, with intent to manufacture, create, distribute, or dispense, a controlled substance listed in schedule I or II that is–

(A) combined with a candy product;

(B) marketed or packaged to appear similar to a candy product; and

(C) modified by flavoring or coloring the controlled substance with the intent to distribute, dispense, or sell the controlled substance to a person under 18 years of age.

(2) PENALTIES- Except as provided in section 418, 419, or 420, any person who violates paragraph (1) of this subsection shall be subject to–

(A) 2 times the maximum punishment and at least 2 times any term of supervised release.

"The text singles out 'candy products,' which is a broad grouping," writes Michael Whitney at FireDogLake. "[It] also specifies products 'modified by flavoring or coloring,' which expands the scope of the law. While the bill is ostensibly aimed at distributing drugs to people under the age of 18, it’s broad enough to pose serious problems for both medical marijuana patients and for dispensaries selling these products to patients."

The Saving Kids from Dangerous Drugs Act of 2009

The Saving Kids from Dangerous Drugs Act of 2009 will increase the penalty for distributors who attempt to flavor, color or package drugs to look like candy and appeal to minors. The legislation specifically criminalizes both the manufacture and distribution of these so-called “candied” drugs, doubling the maximum jail time for a first offense and tripling the maximum sentence for any subsequent offense.

“Drug use and drug dealing not only impacts the quality of life in our communities, but discourages job creation and economic development as well. Drug dealers, particularly those who target children, should be off our streets, out of our neighborhoods and in jail,” Bayh said. “This practice of marketing candy flavored drugs to minors is dangerous, disturbing and must be stopped.”
