A good place for a lighter? Um... 7-11 usually has that on lock. I don't like to use butane in my smoke though...

Find a head shop, I can think of 4 within a 20 minute drive, and get yourself some of that Bee twine. It's hemp fibers with a little wax. Burns completely clean so all you taste is bud.

If you're looking for a good place to buy glass look around Downtown Santa Cruz and Down Town Santa Rosa.
