Well i come home today and decide to check my garden. To my disbelief my 2 month old Soler and Polau TD100x is off. I run through all the if's and check everything. Nothing changed after checking and its still way to hot for me to be comfortable with it. Luckily its only a 150w CMH and this axial fan is keeping air circulating.

I'm very worried because i found some responses on other sites that suggest that these fans are very prone to just dying. I'm hoping that this is just a rare occasion and that it will be taken care of. i tried contacting S&P but its a weekend.

Please share your experience, i'd like to know how long you've had your fan for also if you can.

i bet you havent been oiling it every 6months of use have you? only thing u can do is dissassemble the fan clean off the motor shaft of dust/grime clean out where shaft goes on bottom and top end and apply some good blower oil...something that dont gum up and can run with high heat...wd40 is fine for cleaning it but i wouldnt use it for oil..

He had it for 2 months... i sure hope he didnt have to do a 6 month oil before that.

-- I love when people reply without having read the post... then again this is stoner forums --

I've had my TD-125 running a solid 6 months on 24/7 pulling threw a scrubber cooling my 400w lumatek... Shes as strong as day one.

I advise a total dissasemble and reassemble and plugging into its own outlet elsewhere for tests...

I used to use S&P fans but not anymore , i had a td-500 till i found it was blowing air out thru the casing and at the time i was having to push thru a carbon filter rather than pull because of space restrictions so that was not on ! and it was a major security prob .

Have'nt used S&P fans since and i use RVK instead cos i know the case is sealed up tight and IMO is a better quality fan .

The new silent S&P ones they do look to be better built tho, but i have never used one.

Thanks guys! I'm gonna pull it apart and check it. Theres no reason i should have to oil this early, atleast i dont think. i'm hoping its something small that can just be fixed here.

I contacted both the manufacturer and the seller. The manufacture said i have to send it back to the seller first in order to be serviced. i was looking at the RVK fans but its seems hard to get them in the states.

On anther note, those new fans look awesome, hopefully i can get one of those for my troubles ;). I just dont want to encounter this problem again as this is gonna take up a good period of time, and i have no cooling....

Well i pulled it apart and nothing. I cleaned it all out and there wasnt even dust inside of it. Even being plugged into different sockets it still hates me.

I'm really confused to why it just died out of nowhere. This sucks....

did you check all of the wire connections inside the case? I've been running my s&p for about a year probably without any problems. im pulling thru my light and pushing out my filter. never had any problems with them.

after reading tho i am going to be giving mine a good cleaning soon.
good luck!

Like i said i checked everything. i took the wiring apart and put it back together. Than i tried three different outlets in my house for power. Nothing changed.

On a good note, the person who i bought the fan from is sending me a new fan today. I will be sending the old one back as defective in a couple days. I'm glad that this company stands behind their products. Maybe i was just unlucky and did receive a defective item...

Yea thats a good point about it not being sealed well - I forgot about that but was pretty upset i paid $130 for a fan that i have to slather in duct tape to stay sealed.

It sucks you dont need a very big fan... Im about to purchase a 530CFM for $120 (thats with a manual speed controller BTW). Its SO much more expensive to build small over large...

Good luck mang

I have three S&P mixed vent fans. 1xTD-100x and 2x TD-150s.

They have worked flawlessly and as advertised. If you got a bad one - then you did. *shrug*

I can't explain that. All I can attest to is the quality of the S&P fans that I have which are all excellent.

TD-200 running 24/7 - high speed connection for 12, low speed connection for 12 - for only a couple months so far, but no problems.

I have one S&P fan that has been running flawlessly for 3 years, the other two have been doing the same for 6 months. Little strokes of genius, these fans. If yours crapped out, something either bound up the impeller and it burned out, or you just got an odd bad one. S&P's are a quality product, if the replacement burns out, something in the install is wrong. I've never heard of having to oil the TD series of fans, or any exaust fan for that matter.

The S&P catalog CA-TD0409 shows permanently lubricated ball bearings for the entire TD-MIXVENT line.
The european catalog does also.

My TD-100 died after less than a week of use as well. Seller unresponsive so far... S&P insisted I go through seller to get a replacement.

I have a 150 and it's been great so far. Believe it or not I'm cooling 2 1000w hoods with it. It's a tad underpowered inmo but my temps are 79 at the canopy.

It leaks around the clamps so I taped it. After reading about all the dead ones I'm going to replace it with a canfan or something. I'll use the S&P for a drying area.

My TD 150 was used for maybe 6 months and the low speed just stopped working one day, not the biggest deal because i can overkill and go for high speed.
my TD 100x never gave me any issues and i used it over a year.
