thanks again for allowing me to mutter in the corner! keep holding the lantern high for all us lost ones

Fish, if you're chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo it is impossible to be accurately referred to as being lost. You are chanting right? Reading is good--chanting is better!

Forest! It's time for you to take action and get your Gohonzon. I say that with great confidence. Listen to your inner voice and do what you have to do. We will all help in whatever manner we need to.

Reach out and get it done!

Much love and deepest respect!

I was sure that you are. In all honesty, though I post for everyone, I posted that info for you, because I knew you would read all of it and by now, you would begin to have questions about why the Daishonin's teachings are so dynamic and different then what one may know generally about the teachings of Shakyamuni. The truth is that Shakyamuni's teachings were all over the map, and even in some cases, in seeming contradiction to each other. Nichiren Daishonin is the True Buddha of the Latter Day of the Law, and his followers who chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo and are of the same mind as Nichiren are True Buddhas as well. We are not less than Nichiren. Because of his infinite compassion we are exactly the same: Thus Come Ones of Original Enlightenment Eternally Endowed with the Three Bodies.

In the Daishonin's Buddhism, Mentor and Disciple are One.

All that I posted today was because of you Fish! :thank you:

:thank you: VERYMUCH!!!

Much love and deepest respect!

The Wisdom of the Lotus Sutra Vol IV

Endo: Actually, general Buddhist scholarship treats Shakyamuni of the "Life Span" chapter as a kind of a deity.

Ikeda: Nichiren Daishonin inscribed the Gohonzon for precisely this reason. Nothing could be more real, more concrete than the Gohonzon. The Daishonin made it possible for us ordinary people of the Latter Day, by chanting the Mystic Law (Nam Myoho Renge Kyo) to the Gohonzon, to become one with the "Buddha who is always here, preaching the Law".

The Gohonzon embodies the oneness of the Person and the Law. In terms of the Person, it is the manifestation of the Buddha of absolute freedom since time without beginning; in terms of the Law, it is the manifestation of the actual 'three thousand worlds in a single moment of life.' Therefore, President Toda referred to the eternal Buddha of time without beginning as Mr. Three Thousand Worlds in a Single Moment of Life.

When we embrace the Gohonzon and exert ourselves for kosenrufu(world peace), the "eternal Buddha who is always here, preaching the Law" comes forth from our lives.

President Toda commented on the passage of the "Life Span" chapter, "Ever since the [the remote past] I have been constantly in this saha world, preaching the Law, teaching and converting" (LS16, 225), as follows: "This is the 'universe that is at one with the Gonhonzon.' The life of Nam Myoho Renge Kyo has since the remote past been at one with the universe."

He also said: "When we pray to the Gohonzon and receive the life of the Gohonzon in ourselves, then, because our lives themselves are Nam Myoho Renge Kyo, the power of the Gohonzon wells forth within us. Then we can observe affairs of the world without any serious error in judgement."

Let's Rock The Era and share the greatness of Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism with the World!

We had 8,000 youth in Chicago and over 16,000 youth in our West Territory! We're expecting 10,000 more tomorrow and that will mean that over 34,000 youth in America collectively Rocked the Era! When I joined the SGI movement over four years ago- I have been praying and hoping to bring the Buddhaland to America and kosen-rufu is now in FULL EFFECT!

A good believer is one who does not depend upon persons of eminence or despise
those of humble station; who does not rely on the backing of superiors or look
down on inferiors; who, not relying upon the opinions of others, upholds the
Lotus Sutra among all the sutra. Such a person the Buddha has called the best of
all people.

Sutra

Without practice or actual efforts, there is no bodhisattva. Action is the
essence of a Buddha. A self-centered life lived solely in pursuit of one's own
benefit and fortune is empty and base. A Bodhisattva of the Earth, in contrast,
respects others and works for their happiness.

"My mentor, second Soka Gakkai president Josei Toda, often said: 'Of course, my goal is to make progress in kosen-rufu, but what I wish for even more than that is for each of our precious members to enjoy good health, happiness, and prosperity. I'm overjoyed when people tell me they have improved their lives through practicing the Daishonin's Buddhism, but it tears me apart when they tell me they're still suffering.'"

"Mr. Toda was solely concerned with people's happiness and chanted that all members of the Soka Gakkai, without exception, would experience immense benefit in faith. Toward that end, he did whatever he possibly could to assist them, opening a path that would guide them toward achieving such results."

"T'ien-t'ai states, 'From the indigo, an even deeper blue.' This passage means that, if one dyes something repeatedly in indigo, it becomes even bluer than the indigo leaves. The Lotus Sutra is like the indigo, and the strength of one's practice is like the deepening blue."

"If we care about the peace and prosperity of society, we must strive to establish a solid pillar of goodness and justice in people's hearts. Everything begins with the inner transformation of human beings themselves. We must also build a strong humanistic force for peace within society. Otherwise, the devilish nature of authority will dominate, and the cycle of suffering will be perpetuated."

With courage and perseverance, let's aim straight towards the pinnacle of victory. Let's put forth our very best, without ever thinking about giving up. Let's achieve all that we set out to achieve and make it the paramount victory in our lives, and at the end of the day let's be able to say, from the bottom of our hearts, "Yes! I really have won!"

"The Daishonin warns: 'This world is the domain of the devil king of the sixth heaven' (WND-1, 495). Our world today is rampant with devilish functions that cause people to suffer and give rise to friction and social disorder. Establishing the correct teaching for the peace of the land is the struggle to vanquish those devilish functions, based on the Mystic Law, and build a realm of happiness and peace. In other words, it is a struggle between the Buddha and devilish forces, one that is fought in the lives--the hearts and minds--of each individual. Everything starts from there. That is why establishing the correct teaching for the peace of the land must begin with one-on-one dialogue.

For all of those members who are struggling against sickness and disease, never ever give up! "No prayers will go unanswered."* By sincerely chanting daimoku with this conviction, let's fill our hearts with strong life force!

Daisaku Ikeda

*"If you have faith in this Gohonzon and chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo even for a short while, no prayer will go unanswered, no offence unexpiated, no good fortune unbestowed, and all righteousness proven." (Commentary on "The True Object of Worship" by Nichikan Shonin)
