Growing from seed...flip to 12/12 and kill males? or take clones?

i got around 15 plants...all are around 2-3 feet tall and still in veg. i grew these from non feminised seeds.

should i take clones from them and figure out whos male/female.

or shold i just flip everything to 12/12 and kill whatevers male later.

i want to eventually keep a mother. should i find a nice female thats budding then revert her to veg? or shold i let them all flower, see which one has the best buds...then reveg it after harvest?

kind of a newb question...ive never grown from seeds before only clone.

I think you should take a couple clones from each plant, label them, and send all the plants to flower.
Keep the clones in veg, as potential mothers to be decided after the countless smoke tests.

Well, since we each kinda answered oppositely as far as flowering the clones or the plants.

It now must come down to whether you want HUGE mother plants, or Big budding plants plants.

Thats what I do. Sometimes I switch the order and flower the plant and keep the clones. Hope you found your answer!

wait...so its better to flower clones? that would take at least 2-3 weeks until i find out what sex there are. by then my veg plants are gonna be GIANTS and taking up lots of resources.

but yall are the pros.

im leaning towards flowering everything. finding out whats female and transplanting them to 5 gallons (they are in 2 gallons now)

that way il have all the males out of the g-room in two weeks.

then i can re-veg once its in flowering? or will that stress the plant and F up genetics.

i like your idea cody....take cuts, then flower the mothers. then when i find the best one i keep clones from that respective. just means i gotta take care of the clones for 2 months to find out.

guess i gotta get a cloning chamber.

u dont have to have HUGE mothers
i popped 30 LUI's on the 5th of april, found 13 strong girls, took 3 clones of each which are in week 5 flower now..
The mums i keep in tiny 1litre pots that i popped the seeds in, i just keep pruning them small maybe once a month, occasionally water them and give them very little light, i dont monitor temps or anything, colder the better means slower growing, tbh i barely take notice of them,.. This makes them grow very slowly and keeps them small. They wouldnt be a foot tall.
So wen my selections are made, i chuck the rest..
But instead of chucking these ill put them outside, season begins in sept

Anyways,plenty easy to keep plants round till there needed, 13 mums in less then 2ft by 2ft space

and the male/female thing, just wait till they show, around week6, wots the problem.

revegging after the harvest is also a possibility
harvest the bulk of the upper bud, leave a small amount of lower bud
takes several weeks to reveg(varies by strain), during which you get to judge what were the better strains, then cut your clones from your keepers

what's the deal with flowering...taking clones & all such activity, oh my word! Every plant I've ever grown has shown preflowers within 3-6 weeks, average 4 1/2 weeks to find out male/female ratio. Once preflowers appear, I take clones & flower the plants from seed. So very easy and uncomplicated.......or is it just me???

be carefull cause sometimes youll get that female that waits and waits and waits and throws one set of hairs you have to search for while youre all like "what the fks your problem" you find that hair and repot.

Also, please take a hand full of clones off everything. You may yeild less, but at least you KNOW you will have a clone survive. Plus if you take 4-5 cuts per plant and all live then you can replace your males with females half way through and do a little bumper crop and still have a selections of moms.
