Been many years since i have flown in an airplane. And i was hoping someone could help me out with a few questions. No it's not about smuggling drugs onto the plane . No i want to make sure i catch the flight and was planning to be there one hour before departure, my sister says 2hrs though !! I also want to take a tool kit with me, wrenches, screwdrivers and such. I am thinking that would not be cool for a carry on bag, but what about in my luggage ? Thanks to anyone who might know the answer to these questions :friends:

Call the Airlines, they can answer both those questions--
The time part depends on the size of the airport, so it could be 1 hour or 2...depending--
I believe you can have tools in your check on bag....but yeah bro, I would give them a call, just to be sure--:tiphat:

Say BroBear.....listen to U'r sister....arriva 2 hrs BEFORE....safer
never know if there is problems or not.....easier if U'r already there.....

plus security check in's can take twice as long .....specially @ BIG international airports.......

as for the tools.....U can take them.....as "checked" luggage....
meaning bring them in a tool box w/ lock.....turn over @ check IN as check baggage w/ U'r luggage.......should be fine....just NOT for use or access durring the flight.......

Ahhh...yes, it can be difficult to get through to them--
I just went through this a couple weeks ago, when my 12 y/o daughter flew to go stay with her sis in Texas-- We got there 2 hours early, and we got right through...had to sit and wait for most of it-- But it is better than missing a flight!! lol
Good luck bro--

Alright i'll be there 2hrs ahead of time, sucks cause it is already a early am flight, and it's an hour away to get to the airport to begin with. I travel light, so no luggage i don't think. Guess i will just buy the tools i need there. Thanks guys i appreciate it :tiphat:

if I were you I'd mention @ the check-in counter that you have tools in your carry on bag, just a courtesy but one that might help avoid delays if they decide to open a 'suspicious bag' that they've x-rayed.......

In which case i would have to leave them there and buy more at destination. either way i would be buying some unless they said yes take them, so yeah i might give it a try

Why would you have to leave em? They are allowed, only in checked. He just meant to avoid hassles a heads up might be a good idea.

Can you fly with checked baggage ? That's what they put in the hold right, and not carry on ? I will only have a small bag with me as carry on and don't wish to hang around to get luggage checked then find it when i am there, rather get off the plane and go do my work right away. Airports make me feel hinky.

Yeah they don't care about that as long as it's not bomb shit lol they don't want you putting anything in your bag that the dogs will pick up and they will .. I suggest calling aswell before you leave for their automated service for arrival and departure times incase it leaves early as they can do that too lol peace out Headband707

bra think about all the little scisser they collected and nail files ,cuticul cutters ,nail cutter, and water bottles they do go just a bit over board..lol We watched them check the same ppl from the USA 4 times as we just walked by feeling really bad for them and their kids.. and how many ppl have they caught since 911 ffs?. It's all a bit much and all about money if you ask me..

If you want to bring your tools, you will have to check them. It's the only way it's allowed. You can't bring them as carry on. Just hope it's one of the first things off the plane :D

tools in your checked luggage.

& if your checking luggage, plan on walking in the airport 2hrs prior to departure. (account for parking & shuttle bus)

Ive cut it close WAY to many times & its def. alot less stressful just getting there early, sitting at the gate, listening to music & having a drink

doh! the weed was too good, I meant to say "tell them your checked bag has tools"....... they of course x-ray everything & giving them a heads up would help avoiding a delay of some sort.

pardon my blunder BB, didn't mean to confuse the issue. imo they wouldn't let any tools in the passenger compartment as most everyone here's stated as well.

Hey Brother Bear...I'm late to the thread but you could take pretty much anything in your luggage...Check the FSA website, but the last time I checked, you could even have knives in your check-in luggage. Well, I took knitting needles (in my carryon) onto the plane, so that should say it all. LOL

BB, how about sending the tools to your friend/relative/hotel @ your destination (you must be staying somewhere)? any hotel you've booked into will accept a package for you; then send them home to yourself later.
