Trouble joining ABS pipe to fittings...

How does one fully insert a 3" ABS pipe into a hub connection? Even with soapy water and a hammer the bugger will only travel about half way into the hub. I have the cement but I don't want to start applying it if I can't put the pipe and fitting together.

Help?

well the hubs are tapered so that would explain the difficulty. maybe food grease or silicone grease is what is suggested for dry fitting.

try soaking it in hot water will loosen it a bit m8
