I am having a ton of issues. This is my first grow- and I have close to no idea what I am doing. Decided to grow hydro- it is 20 weeks later- my plant is HUGE, it keeps sprouting branches, some leaves turned gray/green and fell off-Somebody please tell me what I need to do!!

need some better pics man. Fill out the questionnaire in the infirmary light cycle nutes etc. you will have better results that way. also don't give up man it takes time and experience try and get a clone from someone who can tell you about the strain as well

You need to do a lot of reading to start with.

Most importantly: You should have put the plant into flower about 15 weeks ago by adjusting the light cycle to 12/12. That means 12 hours of complete darkness every day. You need to be able to sit in the grow area with the lights off and be able to see nothing. Getting this right is tricky, but essential. If you don't do this the plant will just keep growing forever and will never start producing bud.

The inverse square law states that as you double the distance from the light source you quarter the available light. That makes the height of the plant irrelevant when you're growing in sunlight, but very relevant when growing indoors. That plant is far too high for an indoor grow. You need to see if you can bend, twist, break and train it under a net.

The general rule of thumb is that you need roughly the same amount of root below ground as plant above it. Looking at the pictures you seem to have that plant growing out of a tiny container, far too small for the amount of rootball needed to support a plant of that size.

Bearing all this in mind, the plant looks surprisingly well, if you learn fast enough you have a good chance of saving it and if you're really lucky it won't be a male.

I'm sure there's lots of other things that you're doing wrong as well, but at least you've made a move in the right direction by coming on here and asking for help. Good luck.

i have the light cycle at 12/12- i didn't expect the plant to get that big- the container is an aerogarden - if you look closely you'll see that I had to make a contraption to put the light higher-

i don't know what information is reliable- i've read so much conflicting information- thats why i'm reaching out this way-

Bend it under a net?! Can you please elaborate!?!?

How long has the plant been under 12/12? It's showing no signs of flowering. Do you know what strain you are growing?

if it is flower, it is a sativa just starting or you have light leaks during the dark period. You havent been checking the PH? you need to do some reading young jedi! The PH should be between 5.5 and 6.5. Do you know your ppm or EC? If not you have probably been reading the bottle and using full strength nutes (i.e. burning the plants).

There are signs of flowering- for sure- white and red hairs. They aren't tightly bound together though. The leaves are starting to twist around the buds

Ok-few questions... What does EC mean?- and I've been using the nutrients that the aerogarden came with- what should i be using!?!? geez. I really hope that i didnt screw this up too much!!!

Is that an aerogarden for growing herbs like Basil and other smaller plants? If so you need a different setup in that closet.

I can point you in the right direction. Lookup SCROG (Screen of Green) and LST (low stress training).

Basically you want an nice even canopy so that most of the plant is receiving the same amount of light. Particularly in vegging it's a good idea to force the plant to grow to an optimal shape for artificial lighting. You can either do this by growing the plant under a screen, tucking it back under each time it grows above. Or you can be and tie down stems forcing them into a particular shape. Now that really should be done as soon as the cutting has rooted. But you can still train the plant even at that size. If it was me though, I would chop about half of it off, and start from there. That probably won't be a popular choice though.

You also need to bear in mind that when the plant does start to flower it first "stretches" sometimes to two or three times it's original height and you've got no space to move the light any higher.

i think that its in the flowering stage- it does have buds with white and red hairs-and the leaves are sticky and the trichomes are clear- (sounds like i know what i'm talking about, right? haha. wrong!!)

If it is then it looks like it runs off about 60 Watts from a compact flourescent

Aerogardens

Bulb

I'm staggered that he managed to grow such a big plant under such a crap light in such a crap system and keep it alive for 20 weeks.

yeah aerogarden deluxe can grow about 3 short autoflowers pretty well. Get them feminized and start again. Then all is not lost..till the original poster can get a better light and good ventilation into the closet etc.
