Letting ice melt when processing bubble

I have only made Gumby hash before and am about to process a lot of trim. I am planning to once again run me some Gumby.

I am sure this is paranoia but when I have done it before I have always let my ice melt in the bucket before I pull my bag (5-gallon paint strainer)
because I am afraid many trichomes are sticking to that ice along with all of the plant material. Seriously, I will mix and mix (paint stirrer on drill) and let sit, then mix again until all the ice is gone.

Is this crazy?

No its not crazy, but it is a way to get a lot of impurities in your bubble, the less you grind it the better the hash is, for the first run or two you wanna mix it by hand to get the best full melt bubble.
Even if I do 3 or 4 grinds on a batch the ice has never fully melted by the time I am done in 90 degree weather :)

Blaner - I will admit that my gumby is not that fine. It is nice without a lot of visible impurities and does bubble some but nothing like the μm bags.

Letting the ice melt all the way does make me feel like I am getting the maximum amount off of my trim. The major drawback to this is that it takes all afternoon for the ice to melt.

I may do what you suggest and hand mix the first one or two runs and then grind with the drill and let the ice melt..

Use crushed ice instead of cubes, not only will it melt faster, but the sharp edges of the crushed ice will assist in scraping trichomes off the trim.

I have several gallon bags full and a few, 1/2 full kitchen garbage bags. Literally taking up a whole freezer.

I am going to the $2/20# u-bag ice house.

Good tip but I am going to need a tad more than what the ice maker can grind out.

I usually do mine till it melts, I figure on top of stuff getting stuck to the ice that it also needs time for it to settle for the trich's to fall down otherwise they might just get stuck between layers, so I do multiple stirs and stops.
