if you want to push the permaculture tip you could try interplanting corn or sunflowers and tying on? probably too late for that. maybe for future years you could start training some fruit trees and shrubs into circular trellis forms? are you too far south for blueberries? cause BB Sativas trellised on blueberry bushes would rock my world

bamboo is the best fall back

just a thought

what else have you interplanted in there? i've heard that chamomille and nettle can increase essential oil production, in addition to being very valuable in many other ways

peace and blessings

Years ago when I was growing tomatoes I made cages from construction mesh for peanuts...
It was pain in the ass to paint them but after that they last lifetime!
Just cut to desired height, roll to desired diameter and put in place.
For stability I made 30 cm hooks (3 per mesh) they get hammered to earth so mesh can tilt in wind!!
For your super bushes you could make them from 2 pieces and then put them around plant and join them with some wire!
Sorry I can get some pics of cages, I sold them when I moved.
And finally MONSTERSSSSSS!!!
Cant wait to see them ripe!!

the plants are mixed with : akira (canna edulis) Crimson clover which has since been shaded out, squash and melons at the base, Jarusalem artichoke, soybeans, scarlet runner beans sunflowers and corn as a perimeter. once they start to flower i will sow more crimson clover to maintain so nitrogen fixing. After I chop then down i will be planting heavy amounts of fava beans around december into each hole for next year. I'm trying get a good mix of color in my yard this year. It's the first time planting in the back yard so we will see how it goes.

right now though im going to make some new mounds before i cage them up... this should be enough juice to push them into a nice fat flower cycle.

this stuff is fucking gold! it ill grow anything! If any of you have a mushroom farm around i highly advise you to gather their duff. Not only does it contain life, it aids moisture retention 10000 times better then plain straw, feeds my plants, creates new soil, And if I'm lucky right after harvest if the mycelium has made itself a nice enough home i will get a fatt flush of MUSHROOMS !!! Last time i was filling grocery bags full of portos and criminis. What a treat!

btw its free. :tiphat:

Update time... So after having may face knee deep in some lady bush for the past few days I am finally done with popcorn upkeep.
!

this blueberry girl likes it !

We all have humble beginings at some point in our life.

what a transformation

This is about 7.5 feet up almost touching the teepee top.

Gotta Love those sativa divas.

Here's the untopped AK-47 with toes for scale!

and this Indica blueberry is about 5.5 feet across and a little under 3 feet high now that the topping and clean up took care of her. Still trying to air layer the branches on some of these girls.

And here is the inside of the MONSTER AK 100's of bud sites already. Looks like a manzanita

And I found a nice local source for willow harvesting. More pictures of all the girls once i build the frames for them! Blueberry haze ,odyssey kush, blackberry kush , NYCD, blueberry and AK. PITA to strip the bark but its free for me and the forest will thank me for helping it breathe.

i just noticed what you were growing along with your plants.

maybe your experience is different, but i pulled everything from the cuke family in my garden. melons etc. theyre just insane pm sponges. i was so owned by pm last summer man, id hate to see anyone go through that.

another pm carrier to watch out for is california burclover. its the sprawling ground webbing clover that makes spiny seed sacs.

lol anyways didnt mean to be a bummer, ever since my pm destruction last year, i take every opportunity to preach out against the evil empire of powdery mildew.

thanks for the concern dog. I usually don't let my stuff go that bad. And I do weekly sprays of fresh goats milk on the plants for PM control and foliar feed so i'm not that worried about it.. This year i planted them too close to the inside of the girls. So it looks like i'll have to end up moving the zuchinnis afterall, the melons are starting to trail out so they still have a home. I basically live in my garden and not much gets past me.
good looking out !

another bad one is sweet pea... I have it all along my fenceline. this is killing me... making me think about pulling all the squash and cukes from the garden. Man... that would really suck. My wife will be sad. Half her garden is squash and cukes.

GhettoChild: looking good man. Those ladies have really put on some size.
