Is my room too cold?

My AC is set to 67F, most of the 12 X 10 room is 67F. At the hottest spot in the canopy its 73F. I have plenty of air circulation.

Is my environment too cold?

yeah i think it should be closer to 78F my friend. it's a hardy plant though and won't just die at the drop of a hat, but for better development and quicker growth you probably want your temps closer to 78F. i take it you're using cfls if it's this cold? that said though i'm in winter at the moment where i live and my grow room temps fluctuate from about 68-78F (19-23C) and my plants are doing fine so i wouldn't fret too much. only if you start noticing the plants suffering and know it can't be anything else.

A humidity and temperature gauge are essential in any growroom. Daytime conditions should be 70-80 degrees without co2, 80-90 degrees with co2 until the last two weeks when daytime temps should be kept between 70-80 and co2 can be reduced to adjust for the lower metabolism. Night temperatures should be kept above 60 degrees to prevent stress. It is preferrable during flowering to have a night temperature drop of 10-20 degrees to stimulate flowering hormones and reduce stem elongation.

I find that low humidity causes stress on plants. I recommend 50-60% humidity until the final 2 weeks of flowering. At this point, the humidity should be lowered as much as possible to encourage the plant to seal and protect itself with additional resin. (I am able to get the humidity to go as low as 31%) I have been able to frost things up considerably this way. The higher humidity levels prior to final ripening reduce salt levels within the plant tissue and encourage healthy, more lush growth.

Excellent info- thank you very much. For some reason I thought 70-80 at the canopy. What is a good canopy temperature?

I have 2 1000 watt magnum xxxl air cooled hoods. Right now, I have them 8 inches away from the plant tops and it's 73 at the canopy. My ebb & gro reservoir stays at a solid 74F. I'm running a dehu at 50-55% 24 hrs a day.

I'm having some deficiency-looking issues and am researching this aspect as well.

I've had a serious battle with heat for years. I just gave it the final blow by installing the AC. This is my first grow with it. Now I am in control of the environment- by remote control. I must be overcompensating.

your fans should keep the temps the same everywhere in your room .remember you can't put the temp gauge in direct light and get an accurate reading so put it at canopy height in a part of the room that DOES NOT receive direct light.Best temp varies with verity

You need to test the ambient temperature of the growroom and not the radiant heat of the canopy below the lamp.

I guess I just got my wires crossed somewhere. I've been so focused on getting rid of the heat in there.

These new Magnum XXXL 8" hoods run so cool. My goal was to get the lights as close to the leaves as possible, while maintaining a temp between 73 and 77 at the canopy.

I've been bumping it up a few degrees over the last day and it's at 71 now. I raised the lights to 14" and the remote thermo sensor (in full light) reads 77 at the canopy. My rez seems to be holding at 74F.

Maybe I need more or better fans? It seems it would take quite a bit of them to get the canopy level temperature the same throughout the room. I have two 14" and one 18", all wall mounted, oscillating, Eco-Plus, from the hydro shop.

I just put my temp guage on the top of my pot in the shade and basically assume canopy is 2-4*F hotter. My veg room gets up to the 90s all the time with no stress, they may grow faster with Perfect temps but they sure don't mind some heat. This is sort of a top down view of the fans in my room 8x13. The 'V' '>' '<' represent my fans and '|' is just open space and 1kw = my 2 lights. My room seemed to be overall cooler all around after putting them this way but hey who knows, I could be doing it all wrong.

Yes, your diagram helped. Thank you. It gave me an idea for a better way to hopefully increase my air flow a little bit. I've got a corner that seems pretty "dead" and seems to accumulating some of the colder AC air.
