i have some feminized il diavolo seeds 5 to be exact they are critical mass + x ruderalis, they will be popped within the next week and going into the deep end

this is gonna be a full l.e.d grow using 345 watt panel from veg through flower on 18/6 light cycle

these seeds are meant to be fast so im hoping for an 8 week or less finish and if i can get 1 oz per plant i will be more than happy

this time round im using

canna vega and flores
hammerhead
overdrive
carboload
rhizotonic
pk 13/14

buckets x 3 all will use rhizotonic

1. will get canna vega and flores , pk 13/14 and carboload

2. will get canna vega and flores , hammerhead and carboload

3. will get canna vega and flores , hammerhead, carboload and overdrive

just for research purposes

as always im a man of my word i said i would grow these pips out and they will be appearing within the next 7 days, just waiting for the other plants to finish off with their flush.

seriously though given the choice i would never of spent the money on these seeds as i know whats gonna happen and if you read the thread on thct then you will know that i only bought them to prove a point.

and that point shall be proven lol

this section is a good place to hangout if you wanna know about autos lots of seasoned growers on here who know their shit and also breeders as well always willing to give advice where needed, really is a nice little community set up and its nice to give something back

and so it begins...

im not a big fan of femized auto seeds due to past experiences so ive germinated all 5 of my pips and the best looking 3 will be going into my oxypots

my method is always the same when germinating seeds and that is to soak them in water untill they sink and then put them in paper towel untill the tap root shows

my seeds will usually always crack within 12-24 hours so im guessing by this time tommorow they will be ready to transplant to my rockwool cubes

im gonna do a step by step in case their is any wannbe hydro growers looking to make the step into the waterworld and show you how easy this is so expect a few pics in the 1st week

Im using exactly the same germ method as you and my seeds germ within 12-24 hours too. A very nice way to germ.

4 out of my 5 seeds have cracked, the remaining seed took ages to sink so didnt get added to the paper towel untill this morning,

im just waiting on taproots to show through enough so i can transplant into my cubes

preperation is everything and i like to be sorted well in advance

my 2 main tools when growing hydro are my ec pen and my ph meter without these id be growing blind ive checked and calibrated both of them this morning using ec calibaration fluid and ph buffer 7 and both of them are spot on

next up is my water, my tap water has a backgorund ec of 400ppm which is not good for seedlings due to all the shit that is contained in their so ive been to the shop and bought some bottled water with a backgrowund ec of 0 the best starting point for adding your own nutes

next up is my nutes, in order to give your plants a helathy start in life rockwool contains no nutrients and plants will need nutrients so i have my trusty rhizotonic which the roots love and you get explosive growth from this product and my canna aqua vega part a and b
i will be mixing up a soloution of 4ml of rhizotonic to 1 ltr of water and then adding veg nutes untill i get an ec of around .3-.4 ec and a ph of 5.5 to soak my starter cubes in

nutrient is set @ .4 ec and ph 5.5

soak the 1" rockwool cubes and drain off an excess nutrient

4 out of the 5 seeds have cracked in less than 12 hours

i always try and plant my seeds with the knot side at the top

all i gotta do know is sit back and wait for them to make an apperance

Damn sorry to hear only 1/5 mate, hopefully the other ones will start to take off, i had some onyx do that to me 3 out of 10 to be exact, but its all good, i just pollinated my biggest and baddest female with the biggest baddest male pollen, gonna be some awesome f2s. I will have update with pictures tomorrow afternoon... I would LOVE to try the mi5, anything you favor with the mi5 over onyx? Good luck skotty!

it is early days though they only went into the cubes on sunday,today is day 3 i think they are just being a little bit shy good things come to those who wait

if i get to friday and they aint risen then i will be pissed off

onyx vs the mi5 you ask mmmmm

the onyx will outgrow the mi5 and yield you more but as far as quality goes they are both 9/10 strains, for me its the mi5 i just liked her flavour very enjoyable smoke but all my mates said they preferred the onyx.
the onyx was 1 frosty oowee sticky icky icky little beeatch though and i think with my growing skills now i could proabably push the mi5 to new heights

you will have to do a side by side and see for yaself which 1 you like best its difficult for me to pull them apart cause i liked em both

day 2 from seed

when the root pops through the 1" cube its time to transplant

exactly the same method as before with the 3" cube soak in excatly the same nutrient mix .4 ec and ph 5.5 then transplant

as soon as i see the root popping out of the bottom of this cube it will be ready for the oxypot


im not impressed with these seeds at all, 5 cracked and 1 has popped up with only 1 cotyledon wtf, i think the other 3 have given up, i might have to resort to plan b.

just hope i can cover my cost of the seeds with the 1 plant

its not the lights im worried about as i know they can produce buds,check out my blue chedda diary

im more concerened about this strain, if the worst comes to the worst i could cross it with and mi5 and create a critical mi5 but ill wait till the weekend before i decide what to do

day 3 from seed

ive given up on my plants that havent risen and resorted to plan b

im left with 1 and a half plants wtf lol

day 5 from seed

the root has now shown outta the bigger cube so its time to get my shit together

set up my net basket with clay pebbles (these should be pre soaked in ph balanced water for 24 hours before use)

place plant inside net basket

then fill the basket with pebbles

setup the water level on my oxypot

set up ec and ph ( ph 5.5 and ec .6)

then put the plant in its new home

sit back and wait for nature to do its thing, the roots will now grow down into the res in the next couple of days and as the roots grow down i lower the water till its about 2" below the net pot,all i have to do is monitor my ph to make sure it stays in a range of 5.5 - 6.0 i try to aim for 5.6-5.8

it looks so tiny in the oxypot at this stage of the grow but once my roots touch down in the res it will be a different story.

a step by step guide to starting off in oxypots or dwc for anybody who wants to have a go at this way of growing, it really is a piece of piss

1 outta 5 is piss poor in my books for germination rate

but to answer your question i went with the mi5 over the onyx purely because i know the onyx can grow to massive size in hydro and my tent wouldnt be big enough for 2 onyx and a il diavolo, thats not to say that these mi5 might suprise me this time round

the il diavolos main root is making its way into the res and where 1 goes the rest will follow

some pics of my mi5 these things dont fuk around 1 is already in the 3 "cube as its root was flying along and 1 is still wearing its crash helmet, im not having much luck with germinating seeds just latley

mi5 are regular seeds so there maybe some breeding going on in this grow if any males show up (id rather have all ladies )

critical mass from the il diavolo x with the ak47 mi5

on another note it would be nice to see if these led lights can bring out the purple trait thats meant to be in the mi5 seeds
