Police in San Diego raid four homes in Pacific Beach suspected as pot growing hub
July 14, 2010 | 6:40 pm
Law enforcement agents in San Diego raided four homes in the Pacific Beach neighborhood Wednesday, arresting four suspected marijuana growers and seizing 400 plants and $30,000 in cash, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency said.

The early-morning raids by a multi-agency task force resulted in the seizure of a quantity of methamphetamine, illegal fireworks, a shotgun, a handgun, ammunition, and psychedelic mushrooms, the DEA said. The arrests were made without resistance.

While raids on pot-growing sites are not unusual, most such sites are in rural areas, officials said. The presence of four homes in proximity was also unusual.

Arrested were Gregory Michael Goodwin, 38; Van Carter, 49; Ian McDonald, 31, and Guillermo Javier Perez, 46, all of San Diego.

The arrests come less than a week after 12 people were indicted by a federal grand jury in San Diego for marijuana sales in an apparently unrelated case.

meth is bad no doubt....but who are we to tell someone what they can or cannot ingest. There will always be tweakers...there is no real way to stop that. If it was legalized and regulated, tweakers could afford their habit and wouldn't have to rob and steal. Same with crack heads. Take a look at insite in B.C. They are doing a real service for addicts, their neighborhood has also enjoyed the decrease in violence and drug related crime. Better to try to help people and give them encouragement rather than lock then in a cage with animals.

Sucks, more people are going to jail for cannabis. These guys are gone for a long long time. Their life as they knew it is over and were left pay for their costly imprisonment and some LEO just got a promotion with raise.

Meth:

I used to smoke it, eat it and snort it.

Saw first hand how it turned folks (me included) into paranoid, egotistical reptiles.

It has taken several years for me to come down to a human state of mind... empathy, compassion, sharing, telling the truth, being honest, stop manipulating people.

I didn't have to hit rock bottom (by the Grace of God) to realize it was time to let go.

Very, very hard to manage...

To this day, I sometimes get sweaty hands when I watch specials showing Meth heads blowing clouds...

Never again!

Stick to Cannabis and a few beers here and there.

And coffee, lots and lots of coffee!!!!!!

You were turned into an egotistical reptile, and you lost your ability to feel compassion for others (as well as your ability to share or tell the truth), but at least you didn't hit bottom.

Yeah... but still have all my teeth, never lost a job and never had to steal or con in order to score.

You Pvt. Joker you!

Please no more jokes, it is not something a share with everybody.

How do you know it was meth? Cops like to tag x pills as methamphetamine all the time makes the arrest look more dangerous or some shit. I had a homeboy a few years ago that got popped with a 10 pack and it was in the paper the next day as " Major meth dealer off the streets" just sayin

....because SD has a serious meth habit...has for a long time.....that won't be a mistake. Sounds about right. A lot of peeps have bags of speed on them out here....and probably everywhere else. Legal tweekers would still be stealing and scamming....that's what tweekers do. The world ain't never going to be safe...ever.....regulate it anyway you want.

You should come to WA State...

There is a town outside Ft. Lewis called Spanaway.

Locals call it SPUN-AWAY for certain reasons.

Sad state of affairs, sad...

Is the above called a trigger?

Ain't that a bitch !?!?!?

Before moving to Costa Rica I worked in a Juvi facility as drug counselor.

Recovering kids respected me for that... They knew I wasn't kidding when I told them about my past. Only a true "believer" starts jonesing like that; your body tell no lies.

Hell, my arm hair would stand up... ok, oK you get the picture.

That is a reason we (after I bitched at then), at the Juvi center, decided to stop showing treatment videos that contained images of actual use.

Like one kid said to me:

That ain't cool to show man...

...I've lost a lot of my brothers to the stuff. No need to demonize speed...just watch it work...always ends up the same...it is a very big problem.....pretty hard not to see that. It is everywhere.
