I have the Vortex sucking all the air and venting out of the window. The ambient room tempt the tent is in is 72-75 but my temps inside the tent are 85-90.

Why the fuck do the temps shoot that high? I had a 4" vortex with 4" ducting reaching these temps.. I posted earlier asking about heat and temps to which everyone said go with a 6" vortex and ducting, which I did and the temps are EXACTLY the same..

So now im looking at a portable AC but in the house the central AC is running constantly.. I also feel I just wasted a ton of $ rebuying 6" sizes for fans/ducting/carbon filter.

Input? :(

I really don't want to add an AC. Only thing im doing now is adding 2 trays of ice/water/salt to try to keep humidity up and temps down.. I'm bummin now.

Thanks fellaz

EDIT:
ICE/water/salt brought temps to around 83.. and RH above 40% -- although this may be a temp solution, i cant be going through all this ice everyday

Well-- that's an option although i've seen plenty of others with mysetup who seem to keep temps down.. without 2 exhaust fans and ac.. what could i be doing wrong?

Also -- the 6" vortex is already loud as hell..

Window < Ducting < Vortex (TENT)< Ducting < Cooltube (OPEN END) -- (havent added in the ducting +carbon filter just yet)

-- hrmm.. on one of the sides of those flaps, theres a lot of cool air from my door.. i have a fan from my hallway blowing in cold air to my room (my rooms the hottest in the house.. it stays +5 degrees hotter than any others) im thinkin of maybe rigging that floor fan to some ducting and blowing it towards the flaps..

That huge bend in the flex duct is killing a lot of air flow. I'd have the fan mounted horizontally and attached straight to the upper side vent hole.

Those two fans blowing hot air down are not helping either. Check this thread out for fan mounting. https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=160592

Did you get 4 horizontal bars that can be mounted at top?

I would do a straight shot if I could, that's how I always previously mounted.. but with the tight space in the room and the window location (and other things tightly jammed around it) I can't really do it horizontal.. plus I'm trying to keep all moving parts outside of the tent.

I have some bars at the top but they arent the strongest, thats also another reason I went with letting it sit up top. When I had it hanging inside it was sturdy.. but pretty wobbly.

Also -- those fans arent in those locations anymore, they are clipped in the corners closer to the vent flaps to blow the cold air around

With my tent I noticed with temps at 70-80 outside the tent ranges from 80-90 inside. I think part of it is the sliver lining which keeps the infra red radiation in the tent. This is the same thing that happens when you use the IR blocking silver poly's Now your tent is white but same thing could be happening.

Have you tired to put the fan right at the beginning of the shade pushing the air over top of the bulb instead of pulling?

your exhaust is at the top of the tent where heat rises. your fans are at teh top of the tent blowing hot air back down and thus keeping the temps up. either move exhaust to the bottom or place your fans lower in the room. this may help.

Hrmm. That could be a possibility. I was considering adding some Mylar because I still have some laying around, but not sure if it's going to help in my case lol.

I have in the past (push hot clean air out and vented) but temps would be a few degrees higher and just felt the fan wasnt being efficient. That could just be in my head though. Numerous people on boards all over, ic/riu/gc etc. say it's better to pull rather than push. I havent tried it in this 6" setup (and doubt i will because its going to be a PITA) and don't really think its going to drop the temps too low.

Temps now are about 80ish, which isnt too bad but I know it'l get worse as the summer continues..

I'm just looking for the cheapest solution to get this consistently working.

Portable AC -- not ideal because we have our central ac running constantly. $$$
Another vortex fan (4") -- just sold my 4" to buy this 6" , ugh
Water Chiller -- $$$
C02 -- $$$ plus would need another fan
Ice box -- $$ plus dont really know too much about it

if you would of read a couple posts back, i stated those fans (6" clip fans) are at the bottom of the tent where cold air comes in, blowing the air up

and the carbon filter still at the top so all that hot air is being sucked out

my bad jet.

its all the fucking kinks and 90 degree bends you have in your ducting.....your airflow is probably less than 50% of which it should be.....your really fucking yourself having such drastic kinks in your ducting! ive never even used a blower with ducting filters or what not....just a 250, nice hood, and a duct booster fan ducttaped to the hood. yes i know a 250 doesnt put out as much heat as a 600....however! i am aware of the dynamics of airflow in a curved, or in your case x10 curved tubing!....ive worked with a 400 before and had a fan blowing directly on the bulb and still kept temps down.....

i would suggest eliminating the ducting coming from the tent to the window.....this is fucking your airflow buddy. INSTEAD, you should attach a blower directly onto the window vent blowing room air outside.....eliminating that portion of ducting.

also its my understanding you should blow the hot air.....not suck it through the fan.....i think your whole ducting fan filter set up is ass backwards to tell you the truth.

im really sorry about the whole purchasing a 6inch set up....that sucks it didnt make a difference....but at least put it to good use since you have it. seriously i think your situation will be helped if you just attach a fan to the window duct and blow the hot room air outside. longer / curvy ducting = greatly reduced airflow = build up of hot temps
