hi guys using coco coir canna and canna nutes feeding 2 a day on timer for 2 minutes currently just transplanted clones added no nutes and just using plain tap water the ph is 6.8 and the sun is 600w mh temp in the room is constant 27 degrees centergrade worked fine every other time this is the first time they coming up this light green and leaves twisting slightly dunno if its nute lockout roots seemed fine nice and white not moldy any other tips appreciated mind u i just transplanted them from the cloner 3 days ago. how often should i add rhizotonic to the tank? i only have these 3 left and i dont want to kill them after this i give up!

i know that its just they turning yellow i dont know if they look under fed or if there is another problem the ph hasnt been an issue its the yellowing from the middle of the leaves out and inward and the stems turning red? i was wondering also for ppm readings optimal for canna product coco and ec reading on blue trucheon? ideal for clones at this stage of veg?

yep they need a light feed and maybe some cal mag, make sure you get 20% runoff every watering, and i dont know what pump youve got m8 but 2 minutes twice a day doesnt seem much water to me, imo maybe let your pump run till you have 20% runoff timing how long it took for runoff and adjust the time to suit. stay lucky

hmmm 20% the pots arnt very big i like to use smaller pots and then replant them as they get bigger do u guys know why the stems are turning red and purple i got 25C in the room at 50% humidity but the fact that leaves are going yellow worries me whats that from strange cause the rest of the leaves are light green never been like that before... i miss the nice dark green woried that they stressed to should i use rizatonic during this stage or just give the canna nutes at what ppm range?

Red and Purple Stems can be a sign of Nutrient Deficiencies but can also be strain dependent but with your yellowing leaves i would say you are not feeding enough or have nute lockout

Mr. Poo are you in the U.S.? What's your source of water?

Again, if you're running coco, drain to waste you don't have to obsess over the pH, IF YOUR WATER IS OF GOOD QUALITY to begin with. You should be feeding rooted cuttings with a complete fertilizer every time you water or some do 6 days on / 1 day off. When you mix hydro nutes with good quality tap water, the pH will buffer to around 6.0 anyways. And if the alkalinity of your water is low, than a plain water drenching once in a while at pH 6.8 isn't going to raise the pH of the coco. I'm not kidding.

Go to Lowes (pond section) or a pet store and buy a cheap test kit that includes alkalinity.

read this: pH Management and Plant Nutrition, Bill Argo

The short version is if your growing dtw with higher quality water and nutrients with low ammoniacal nitrogen content (like GH Flora), than the plants roots and the coir mix are going to alter the pH of the water or water + nutrients that you feed it, and not the other way around. And either way - good water or not, coir is not inert, which means that you cannot micromanage the pH of it as if it's a computer program by lowering or raising the pH of the water + nutes a tenth here or a tenth there. If you use shitty water (high alkalinity), you will raise the pH of the coco over time, but not instantaneously.

Use good water, a complete fertilizer, provide a healthy environment and don't overfeed. Those are some basic rules for DTW - Coir. Accomplish that and you should never see signs of a nutrient deficiency. It's not nearly as complicated as some more hydro type setups.

I'm not sure exactly what you're missing. To be honest, it looks like a combination of nitrogen, calcium, magnesium, and sulfur, depending on where I look at the plant. It isn't Zinc, or iron, but it could still be phosphorus and potassium too...

Bottom line though. 6.8 is high for even a soil system. I personally have very, VERY good success running canna around 5.8 to 6.0 pH range.

Also, I'm not sure about those young plants needing 2x a day feedings. Your arbitrary assessment of time, 2 minutes, doesn't tell us how much they are actually getting. Could be 250ml, could be 1000ml...

So, my solution to your problem would be to drop the pH to 6.0, use your Canna nutrients at around 8ml per gallon each, plus some rhizotonic and an equal amount of cal-mag plus, or another good micro nutrient. The proper EC for a coco solution should start around 0.8, and escalate to 1.2 or so during late veg/early bloom before dropping it back down to .8 for the end of bloom prior to any final flush at a 0.2 to 0.4 EC.
