hey joeski! thanks for dropping by, yeah i can definitely recommend cfls, they're all i've really had a chance to use so far as i bought a 400w hps but it heated up my grow space to 30C+, far too hot so gave it to a friend for his tent and it worked wonders in there. but the cfls are definitely worth investing in if you're wanting to save money and reduce heat in limited grow spaces, lol quite often the case with micro grows, hence the micro part haha. anyway all the best mate :D keep me posted if you start any grows with them!

I guess you are done with misting the plants? I misted mine in veg, but my humidity is about 45% or less. I will not do it again.

My mazar are about done, yours just starting.... I had bad luck with germ of mazar and had to nick the ends of a couple to get them to germ. 3 out of 6 germed with 2 needing to have shell peeled off at end.

hey yesum! i will do foliar spraying still but a lot more sparingly i think. and i just need to make sure i keep a clean working area as i hadn't cleaned the growing space in about 3-4 months so just goes to show nature's always there waiting for you to make a mistake so it has the advantage, in this case lol it got me by the balls, it won't happen again. lol actually it probably will, but not in the same way... and yeah i'll be making sure humidity stays at 50-55% max.

yeah i'd heard much the same about the germ rate with some mazar so i lashed out and have a fair few germing, thinking i'll have a large portion not make it. so far i've had about 60% germ. do you mind elaborating a little on techniques to use when you have poor germ rates? this is the first time i've really had a batch where i'm not expecting up to 100% so what should i do with those that don't germ within 1 or 2 weeks? and how do the techniques fair, are they pretty good or is it hit and miss? cheers mate :D have a nice night

here's the latest photo update. freshly sprayed, scrubbed and cleaned walls and carpet. those two girls are 2 cuts from 2 different white widow plants we grew out a while back from nirvana. they've turned out to be pretty good plants :D unsure what i'm going to do with them yet though. the blue container lid is sitting over some clones from these white widow girls, so they don't get direct light as they're only a few days old. i'm cloning them trying the simple and time tested water cloning technique so we'll see how it goes :D fingers crossed! and a few seed are waiting to pop up through the soil in the container there.

Did you see that WalMart cloner? It's for making ice but people swear by it. Fill it with Vermiculite and let it go... It's a sticky somewhere I think.

Looking good...good luck!

nah i haven't seen or heard anything about it mate? what sort of cloner is it? i'm in aus by the way so if it's american it'll probs be hard for me to get my hands on it unfortunately. like those ezcloners! man they look great, but not made for aus power.

Hey Darwin u said that u took clones from one of the 2 White Widow girls you have. Just wondering if u took them from the original 'Maria' plant or the other one. Let me know, cheers.

ahhh sweet mate i get what you mean now, it's like an ice-pole maker. yeah that's a good idea i'll have to see if i can find one at the local shopping centre i'm sure they have them. have you tried cloning in soil before? i've never done it. are there specific mixes etc you need to use? cheers for that :D

penguin - 2/3rds are from your "maria" and 1/3 are from my original white widow plant. 1/3 from the clone of maria that's about 1.5ft tall at the moment and 1/3 from the revegged original grow of her. hopefully they root in the next week, i guess you'll see when you get back mate.

Not soil...vermiculite. Read the thread... You end up with a clone in a "plug". The roots fill up the vermiculite and you just pull it out and plant it. It's like a hempy bucket cloner. It seems to work. It's got to be better than a jug of water...

ha, alright, well for the next batch i'll give it a thorough read and try it. and compare rooting times etc :D thanks again for showing me that mate, it's always interesting to see different cloning techniques i swear there're like 100.

I peeled off the end of seed shell with scissor edge. I had already soaked the seeds and left them in soil for a few days, but no germ.

i think i'll just wait another few days, then try them after roughed up a bit with sand paper. and if that doesn't work i'll try gently cracking the shell and see how that goes. lol if all that fails i think i'll just give up!

Howzit bud,

Wanted to ask why or how come you use 1 drop of supertrhrive in 1 litre of water? I've been told and use 1 drop per 30 litres of water for seedlings. I think your seedling mix is far to heavy in nutrients. (initial part of this thread)

for seedlings - water mix = 2ml seasol, 1 drop super thrive, 3ml root stimulant for ~1L.

hey mate, that's cool, i was still learning about it all when i wrote that, but yeah i don't use anything but pure water for the first 2 weeks or so now. i now have several paint buckets 15L each that i use as reservoirs and ph adjust to about 6.8, i put a drop of superthrive into each bucket, with dilute organic nutes too. only use this every now and then until they're about a month old and then i use it each watering. when cloning with rockwool in the past, i put a drop of superthrive in with the rockwool over night, also i put root stimulating liquid in. but i only tried that once, worked ok. but yeah i haven't used superthrive for anything but 1 drop per bucket of water in the last few months and the plants have been fine.

anytime mate. it's definitely good to tinker with things until they work for you, definitely take advice from others, but things that work for some people don't work for everyone so yeah i thoroughly recommend to anyone, experiment with everything until you find what works best for you :D
