How much heat from a water chiller?

G

Guest 18340

Hi everybody, I have a question regarding water chillers. How much heat does it produce?
Specifically, a 1/10 HP 280w Ecoplus. Is it a significant amount? (Whatever that is)
Are you guys running them in your room or passing the water lines thru a wall? I'm ok with a small amount of heat, like that of a small 45pt dehuey. Any input here would be greatly appreciated:biggrin:
Thanks

hey bro. the "heat" from a chiller is proortionate to the amount of time the compressor cycles (cooling mode).

use a cooler for ur rez or insulate the shit out the one u have, insulate your buckets too.

these steps will ensure ur water stays colder longer hence.......less cycling/heat

ihave the same unit (1/10 ecoplus) hooked to my EZ-cloner and it cycles not too often

i dont even consider the "heat" cuzz its nominal

hope this helps

THANK YOU Buzzsmirk! Exactly the type of answer I was hoping for. If I do go the chiller route it would not be running very long nor working very hard.
Thanks again!

It is removing heat from the grow and exhausting it along with all of the heat from the motors. So all the heat you are removing plus mechanical loss. It is best to remote the unit if possible

I'm ok with a small amount of heat,
You will be adding heat with this cooler!

The room it would go in is fully sealed an air-conditioned. The AC can handle more heat, but how much more is the question.

It is very hard to pin down. The compressor will pull different amp loads depending on ambient room temps and load of the system. The fan will give off an almost consent temp in the coil stays clean. It would probably give off as much or a little more heat than a full size refrigerator.
Hope that helps.

runnin that same chiller
yup the chiller will cycle off and on and blows out hot air..

i ran one through the wall but per the warrantee/directions the chiller cant be run with/in a ambient temp of 86+ from what i recall..
when i put it in my room the ac couldnt keep up so ambient temps went up about 2 deg in that room,,

im chilling bout 50 gal to 68deg

Thanks for your replies folks. I've decided that if I go the chiller route then I'll upsize to the 1/4 hp. I'm more than confident my new mini split can handle the extra heat load. We shall see...
Again, thanks everybody for trying to help:ying:
