Cooling

Hi there people,

At the min i have 2 tents, Flowering DR150 and Veg DR100. Ive been growing for about a year, but now the time has come to improve on cooling which up until now has involved windows wide to the world and exhaust being blown into a bucket of water. Which i think has worked fine, however the Mrs thinks otherwise, also you can hear the fans blowing away in the back garden to the extent my neighbour asked was i growing weed!!
So, the windows need to be shut, the room itself is about 3.5 x 3m. I have an airconditioning unit as well. My question is this, where can vent to? I was thinking into the wall by the window as there is a vent there already but got prang about heat signature? Then i thought about venting into the floor? Or drilling through wall into hot press (dont think the mrs would let me go through ceiling to attic.... The final thought was putting all extracted air into an 80 litre plastic bin filled with water? I also have a spare 125 mm inline fan that perhaps be used to help with the extraction... The key is it needs to be stealth, the Mrs is stressed about police helicopters and also wants people to be able to come over to the house and not have to worry about them finding out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as i dont want to stop growing.

Sounds like your security and stealthiness are already blown..
If I was in your shoes I'd be outta there right now - but you're choice.
Are you medical?
I'd try to vent into the attic, as long as you vent somewhere outside the room it doesn't matter a whole lot. It'd be best to vent into the attic because heat rises and it won't cause as wierd of a heat signiture. Just be careful in the winter as your snow may start melting on the roof

something Ive been wanting when i get have to cross that bridge is to do is to either tie into one of the plumbing stack out pipes that go thru the roof.
OR
Ideally run your exaust tube into the attic and then into a metal stackout pipe for a gas appliance, like say a water/house heater.

even if you had a flyover with a guy that knew his stuff the heat sig would be normal coming out a metal stackout pipe

You don't want to do either of these things. Any failure in your supply to the plumbing stack and you'll be sucking in sewer gas. That can kill you.
NEVER tie into any gas vent stack. NEVER. Doing this incorrectly can screw up the exhaust flow and again kill you.

just cut a vent in the roof. Look on some roofs, see the vents? They take 10 minutes to install and they're really cheap. Venting into the attic in many locales will melt the snow off off your roof. Looks pretty weird having the only house on the block with no snow on the roof.
Also if someone is doing an IR scan of your home, you're already busted. Design your exhaust so no one will notice it with anything short of an IR camera.

I didn't mean or say to tie into an existing gas stack out,
never do that under any circumstance!
of course run an entirely new boot for it.
my bad, i should have explained more thouroughly on that .

and your exactly right it shouldn't be done.
i'm thinking of my own personal situation
i have a fan/fans runnning 27/7 and they continuosly create positive pressure
but if the fan ever went down you would stand the risk of having sewer gas coming back the other way, which is not goodat all.

if you're growing in tents, why not just vent into the room
where you have the tents? it's not ideal but if you have AC
it'll work. . . you should also get yourself a quality carbon
scrubber to eliminate the odor.

anyway, here are a couple pics of the inside of my bud
box, note the scrubber up top...this sits in my bedroom
which i keep cool by AC in the warm months and an open
window in the cooler months, lol, simple but effective.



that last is from the back where it exhausts and this
and the intakes are now covered with landscapers
weed-block fabric to filter the air and help with light
proofing.

anyway, only you can know what will work in your
situation so only you can judge whether or not any
of this is worth anything to you, hopefully it'll spark
some inspiration and you'll find a solution that'll work
for you.

no matter what shut down, bail, or suffer in the long run.

IME - your neighbor is gonna talk and you will have trouble.

As far as cooling-- maybe run ducting through your attic and pull air from another room in your house to your grow room. You can control the temp in that room by opening the window or installing a portable ac and not have to worry about safety, smell or light leaks. Holes in the ceiling are not a big deal if you ask me. Escpecially if you can cut the hole in the closet. As far as you neighbor i would consider giving him weed, cash or anything as incentive for him to keep his mouth shut.
