Hello everyone this is a plant that i gave to a buddy this season before i moved north, just recently he has noticed this strange dark coloration at the tops of the plant that has seemed to slow growth, the soil is composed of 40% recycled soil/compost, 50%peat, and 10% perlite. I've never seen anything like this and i feel bad if he could lose this plant as it's one of his first and i'm trying to mentor him into the growing game.

I know the picture is crap but he only has his phone to take pictures with. Anyways, any guessing on what this could be?

any usefull info that i could provide just ask and i'll see what i can find out. Thanks :thank you:

none at all, it's been all organics in the compost, he did mention top feeding with petrified cow shit but dont think that'd be the effect of cow shit.

It looks to un-uniform to be a plant turning purple.

Looks like a specific plant disease, of which I can not remember the name or find after googling. It basically kills your plant so to speak.

It's kind of pissing me off that i can't remember the name of it, because I had it on some of my recently plants at harvest of leaves i pulled off.

If I remember the name I will repost.

I don't know, I feel I've seen it a lot on forums and everyone thinks it is good, or says overwatering caused it, which is unlikely.

My guess is it might be

Black Mildew/"Schiffnerula cannabis".

My only guess is try to treat it as you would powdery mildew.

There's very little information online about Schiffnerula, but it's the only disease/pathogen I can find that has black/leaf covering symptoms.

Just explore these links:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...ffnerula+Cannabis&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=

I would help you look for how to fix it, but I need to leave for a bit and currently don't have the time to explore all of those links.

It is very unfortunate that you got it on the top cola bud, all the times I had seen it on my plants were just on a few leaves scattered about.

we'll after looking through those links and speaking with my friend i'm not so sure that it's mildew, with the description of the spotty 'black mildew' that it's probably not it not to mention that IME i've been able to 'scrap' away mildew or mold but my friend has went to check and he says that it looks like it's in the leave.

anyone else have any ideas?

has the plant grown or the problem progressed? All I can think of is possibly the peat moss throwing the ph off and causing some kind of deficiency, but your plant is otherwise very healthy looking so it makes me think thats not it. Just dont rule anything out, maybe the cow shit had the plant sitting in exsessive sulfurs. Slow growth, affecting growth tip and pigmentation just makes me think the plant is not getting something it needs

see i kinda thought about it being a nutrient problem of some kind but after looking over one of the stickys here i dont think it is because the pics i see are nothing like this. As far as i know it has spread to another plant that's in a different mix but how's the cow shit as well.

I talked to him yesterday and he has told me it's still growing but not nearly as fast of a rate as the others of the same strain in different plot...

i had really high hopes for these plants because i acquired the seed from a guy thacollected genes in the dam back in 93 and has worked everything into a strain that is perfect for the area it was bred in, so 15+ years of inbreeded/crossing and then this happening is kinda of disappointing.

check the stalk for saw dust and holes from borer worms , you may need to inject BT into the stalk with a hypo
