whats up everyone well to start off i want to give the story behind my newest lady in the collection i was introduced to aanother grower a few weeks back and he was in his 70's who is retired now and offered me alot of his stock. Now from what i was told before i was introduced he has quite a collection and surprized me with a nice norther lights plant. he had it in his collection since 1987 upon meeting me i was handed a 12in bush . im very excited to have a classic version of nl as i never got the opportunity to smoke the original i was 5 in 87 lol but i did try many nl throughout the years and liked em all but would not consider them the best of the best or elite. but still very highgrade weed imo with some much better then others. . when i told him this he just laughed and told me youll gonna be surprized. as he hit my dub of sour diesel ... from what i was told it has a 8-9wk flower time at 9 its supposed to be deadly potent. well my main question for everyone out there is what made it so special back then compared to the newer versions readily available nowadays from all the vendors carrying there own version. i would like to here from ppl who were smokin/growin nl in the 80s and there experiances stories and how they would compare to sensie' dratomic femaleseeds nirvana etc etc etc and do i have a long lost great on my hands and i was lucky as hell to have gotten a plant that most consider gone forever ?would you say that the smoke can hang with the best of the best of todays elite or was the nl back then just the best because of lack of competition ill post a pic as soon as the lights go on in my veg area but shes a very lush darkgreen plant huge indica leaves with many thick branchs that look like they could support massive budz ... like a NL ..they all look similar in veg imo its in flower is where the differ i wont be able to run her till oct and i got very very high expectations for her she will be up against the best so i will definately be finding out
maybe ill make my first attempt of breeding with her since shes such a great backbone in many topself strains if all works out and i get what i expect out of her .

High, Stoney,

you can believe that you are a lucky grower to find this plant without searching or looking for it.

i know by friends in holland around rotterdam, that a few people keep mothers of nl from the late 80's. it is a real fact.

anyway, if you have it too, give it a "one more breeding destiny"...
the most fantastic thing you can realise with it is on the crosses side in my opinion..................................

and please show us the results of harvests and the different crosses you'll breed with this indica princess.

cheers man, i wish you a nice breeding game

regards.

.WB.

thanks brotha ill def keep everyone posted on whatever i do with her im a ways away from doing anything major with her right now my hands are full with many other strains but as soon as i got an open space in my bubblecloner im gonna take a few cuts and tossem in flower if i have room and pass the rest on to a few friends to flower so i can see what i have on my hands some will be in in dirt some hydro some under 1000s others cfls some will be stressed to max to see how tuff it is and what kind of abuse and some will be babied throughout so i can sample it in its best form before i breed nething into it. i never even thought of attempting to breed before pollen always scared the shit out of me lol but with somthing like this i may have to get my feet wet. but im not just gonna chuck pollen im gonna do it right and only use a chosen male and grow out my works and stablize my works by keeping the same mom and dad available for backcrossing thee best of the best results i will be working on this for a few years selecting the best out of each breeding to conitue with.i have alot of reading and questions to answer about breeding a plant to have it stablize and reproduce very uniform amazing plants. this will not be rushed. any suggestions on males to search for i think im gonna pop some of my visc burmese seeds to start my search but all reccomendations are welcome and will be considered but im looking more along the lines of somthing that isnt already a mainstream cross so no bluberry or ssh will be used im lookin into somthing new and not established yet. to create somthing new and amazing ill keep everyone updated on my progress.
peace stone

i got ? if im careful and take pollen nd polinate each branch carefuly with a different strains male pollen being very careful not to drop ne of the pollen on the wrong branch label each branch as to what pollen was put on it and when i chop to collect the seeds carefully keep the branches seperate as to not mix up seeds do you think it may hep me find which way i want to start or is that just cubing and will be a horrible mess?

No that is not cubing, it is called selective pollination and works great as long as you are careful.

now thats an idea i would rather have her in more experianced breeders hands to play around with then my own first time breeding project.guess that means even more researchon self pollination i did some minor reading on coloidal silver and sts and reverse sexing but i just skimmed along time ago to get knowledge on it not with the intention of actually doing it myself .
hey soft. it is my misson to make sure i put her in more experianced hands then my own i checked out some of ur projects and am very impressed been following your posts for quite awhile. ll be talkin to you. would love to hear some of ur plans im a big fan of sol seeds i just had to pick up 2 pks of the bluesat2.2 after seeing it go up for sale i said i was done buyin seeds for atleast 2 years and then i saw them and couldnt resist. shit i still spent close to 300 on my order its hard to controle myself at those sites and i ordered some for a friend to. got my hands full but they will be added to my collection of must pop asap especially wheni start lookin for a male.

I think this '87 NL could be the perfect breeding tool for my Goldfinger clone...S1's would be great...then I could hopefully find a male (possible?) to use as a pollen donor.

The other option is if I self the Goldfinger...but I wouldn't know where to start...

Good luck!

Selfing is pretty easy, would be a great strain to S1 for certain.

Got any pics of this NL? :canabis:

I would make sure I have plenty of cuts of her before I started playing with reversing sex and pollination.

I would grow out a clone for the purpose of reversing her with colloidal silver. Collect the pollen then use it on another cut grown out just for the purpose of seeding her.

If you collect pollen and want to save store it, then first you should dry it out, put it in a closed container with some desiccant (damp-rid) for a couple days, then store it in your freezer, preferably in a vacuum packed container. Done that way the pollen should be good for years.

I'm looking into using GA3. Gibberelic Acid. Easily available and apparently works well..!?

Blynx - could you explain how you dry out the pollen..? Just air dry on some paper?
