How do you run an A/C with a CARBON FILTER??

the a/c unit i have is just a 5000 btu window unit from the store for $100.

should i be worried it'll shoot smell outside???

so you're saying for the carbon filter I shouldn't have negative pressure? just exhaust into the same room???

Actually your carbon filter is eating up a lot of your CO2.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon_dioxide_scrubber#Activated_carbon

if you read it correctly, it says once its filled with co2 it releases it again... so as i said its recirculating the co2.

once the bed is saturated it must then be "regenerated" by blowing low carbon dioxide air, such as ambient air, through the bed. This will release the carbon dioxide from the bed, and it can then be used to scrub again, leaving the net amount of carbon dioxide in the air the same as when the process was started.

also carbon filters http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon_filter are not the same as the co2 filters(A carbon dioxide scrubber is a device which absorbs carbon dioxide (CO2) right?

that was an informative /interesting read. However my scrubbers still scrub the smell out and my CO2 controller dosent seem to miss very much CO2 if the scrubbers are takin anything signifigant (CO2) i would have noticed it so it must be an insignificant amount.

BUZZ!

Yeah, I shouldn't have written "a lot". I don't have personal experience, so I don't know how effective the carbon scrubbers are at removing CO2. Sounds like they run fine according to you and the posts below yours. Perhaps it is releasing the CO2 as mentioned.

I always want negative pressure but it's a little tricky in a CO2 enriched environment without wasting a lot of CO2. That's why I recommended a tent in a room and putting the filter in the room (which is reasonably sealed, vents blocked, etc.) You can keep your CO2 in the tent and also have the security of a neg pressure room.

Your window unit has a decent chance of leaking odor outside when it is running. If the leak is in the pressurized side of the ducting it will spew odor out. And it can really add up fast. I absolutely don't trust window units for odor control.

the least amount of ducting needs to be used (if any) to connect the AC to your box(s). the hot air out should be the side the extractor is put, if used at all, most likely you are looking to vent somewhere.

By sucking hot air out of the ac you can use a second smaller extractor to slowly suck a little air out of the box and the pressure reigons you have built with your two extractors help you be satisfied with it all by having a negative pressure box with minimal leakage at your ac.

this design can help you set up for co2 down the line, just adjust your pressures to minimize atmosphere loss.
