i want to start up this Biz... but not sure what to sell. HELP

I have this great idea for a biz that I KNOW will make money. Thing is I live in a state that is ANTI cannabis. I mean, this is the south and shit is crazy. Period.

Now, I want to open a shop where NOTHING ILLEGAL goes on, in or around the property. Shit, I would disassociate myself with current growers to put it up. Just shut down completely.

So the basic premise is that it would be a shop for canna heads. We would sell snack/munchies and dranks. We would have a library of Canna books, posters of lesser known strains. We could have video conference with ppl making moves to legalize in other states. Have discussions. Basically a POT FRIENDLY place where you come to get educated OR just chill, eat, and surf the net.

Problem: I would probably be on the news and soon after be arrested, or be on the news while being arrested. Even if I do nothing wrong, the cops in my "city" will harass me to no end, and probably harass my customers. Id be sure that they would have an undercover officer in the place at all times waiting for a slip up.

If nothing happens in this state we would be the last to legalize. I would be risking ALOT to run this biz. I already own a biz, and do OK and wouldnt want to jeopardize what I currently have so I may have to sell it.

so my LIST OF THINGS TO SELL:
Local Teas (loose), DRANKS juice beer wine?, snacks and such, Books, localy made stuffs, seeds of legal plants, advertisement on TVs for other local biz, DVDs of info, magazines,

NOT TO SELL:
indoor garden stuff, anything illegal, glass tubes, vapes,

help add to my "to sell" list.

I WILL HAVE SECURITY AND CAMS ALL OVER THE PLACE

Doesn't seem like the products will bring in much $$$... let alone the security and cams will scare away the people you are trying to attract. Heck, they will think you are undercover and not go there...

i feel the cameras are needed incase the cops try to plant (pun) some shit in my shop. Id have it streaming to a server.

people already know me, so there wont be a 'he must be a cop' complex. (sounds dumb, i know. my biz is pretty popular here)

I didnt want to serve food as the inspections and all that stuff is stressful, maybe a juice bar?

Dont just smash my idea, Im asking what do you think I should sell...?

If you sell beer or wine you'll have to get a permit from the city...then you take on the liability of people getting drunk,leaving your place and causing accidents. Not worth it to sell booze. And even a juice bar will involve the health dept.

you're setting difficult parameters bro, you'd like it to be about cannabis but not sell anything associated with it.

sell hemp clothing, posters, incense and everything else head shop oriented w/o selling any real smoking gear.

how about a 'music exchange' just to get them in the door? Go out & invest/buy 200~300 CDs from pawn shops etc. make sure they're not scratched badly of course and set them up for browsing, allow customers to pick a CD & leave a similar one (same genre, same condition) behind for free. NO, you're not selling something but getting them in the door to sell them some tea or juice where you'll make some real money.

you really can't sell music anymore due to the net but a free music exchange might catch on, maybe make it a membership thing & charge a nominal yearly or one time fee for being in the program.

btw a tea or juice bar will require health inspections, only by selling bottled/canned beverages can you avoid licensing & inspections.

sell beverages because people will drink 8-10 different times a day yet we'll buy a pair of pants and wear them for a year or three, get it?

If you own a popular business, you should already know the ins and outs. It sounds like youre basically trying to set up a head shop without the good stuff that would attract most customers. Obviously having canna posters everywhere would automatically arouse suspicions, and to put it bluntly, no matter how legal and legit you run your business, theres no such thing as a public "pot friendly" environment in a "non-pot friendly" locale.

You said it yourself, you will "probably" get arrested. Again, no matter how legitimate and legal your business is, the govt and media have a way of turning things in their favor, especially in the more closed minded areas that unfortunately cover a large area of our country. Youd be extremely hard pressed to find products that would actually bring "pot friendly" customers back again and again, especially selling goods that they can find anywhere else in town. Gas stations sell juice and could care less whether I smoke or not.

It seems like a lose/lose situation my friend. If you can actually survive and become a successful "pot-friendly" business, legal battles often leave the little guy broke and on the street, and whether thats fair or not, its the simple truth.

Your hearts in the right place brother, but sadly, the same cannot be said for everyone around you.

Sounds more like a clubhouse than a money making venture. Glassblowing or even amateur seedmaking would be more profitable and arouse less suspicion.
