Is BP's screwup going to be the end of the world as we know it?

Some science to fuel the fire...

This is good info,y'all please read
random paragraph from article.

Abiotic oil is created by intense pressures on carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and sulphur. The sort of pressures required to create oil are natural as one gets down a certain depth under the heavy crust and in the upper layers of the mantle. In some ways oil is the natural lubrication system for the crust and the upper layers of the mantle as it shifts and orbits the planet’s core.

i just learned today that there are thousands of capped wells on the ocean floor in the gulf...

we all see that doing ANYTHING well in very deep water is quite difficult - makes me wonder how securely these things are sealed...

i wonder what an earthquake in the 7 or an 8 range would do to them?

yea, or if they decide to "nuke it" as a last ditch attempt to seal the 20,000 psi oil gusher (I read the well might have reached areas of 100,000 psi, can anyone chime in?)

WE need nothing short of a miracle to fix this, that is my opinion. Whether or not this happened on purpose, doesn't really matter IMO.

The situation as it stands, is a disaster, a catastrophe anyway you look at it. I'd say its the worst man-made disaster EVER !

hopefully when 2012 comes along, we will have a consciousness shift and turn into god beings so this shit wont really matter anyway. hopefully :_)

what if bp saved the world?
what if the methane pressure was building up to explode all at once and the big fuck up is actually letting all the gas drain out slowly so it doesnt just explode. like a giant saftey valve. lol

all the fish are dead, and the gulf region smells like a perpetual fart, but no death blast.

Wise up. Our fake and delusional lifestyle will be the end, the BP thing is just bringing it to the surface (pun intended).

Obama is doing such a great job... it's sad he's trying to exploit the situation for political gains.

Keep BP in the crossfire, refuse responsibility for the situation, try to muster support for a cap and tax, all while leading one of the nations largest cover up efforts. Those beaches are ruined, reporters have been banned, and FEMA still is not involved.

Reject all international help until 60 days in

Accept less than 20 of 2000 offered skimmers - why? who knows, ask Barry, he probably read his morning briefing wrong.

"plug the damn hole"

another demeaning, teacher-student presidential speech about changing our attitudes (Guess what, our solar technology sucks)

sending lawyers to file a lawsuit was the white house first response, he saw blood in that water, not oil.

but just continue being good sheeple..

We have plenty of disasters to look forward to without adding man made catastrafucks. I never was one to believe that the Mayans were correct in there theory about the world ending in 2012, but I can't tell what to believe anymore. Here's a list of future disasters. The first 2 on the list are already overdue to happen. See #6 that will be a natural explosive methane bubble, and all it will take is a large earthquake.

Pacific northwest mega earthquake

Yellowstone super volcano

New Madrid super quake

Canary Island super wave

San Francisco quake and oceanic anoxia

Super Tornado

Super deep freeze east coast blizzard

Solar storms

^we are also many years over do for a pole switch, which is likely to cause the earthqaukes you speak of, which are likely to set off yellow stone.

Also climate change is making weather patterns more drastic, so those super tornadoes, and blizzards are not to far off either.

I wish it was going to change the world but no it wont. When we stop relaying so heavily on fossil fuels and start using alternative fuels we might see some improvement..

Im with hammerhead if we went away from being so dependant on bullshit fuels like oil or bullshit ideas like hydrogen power - which are only attempts to make us more dependent on BIG OIL - then we would not have these damn problems. Brazil uses sugarcane based fuels for 95% of its vehicles - as should the rest of the world.
