Everyone has their own opinion so here's mine

Aero systems (stinkbud is an aero system, correct?) are notoriously touchy. Of course, I've never done an aero (the only system I think I haven't tried) so it might be easier than people lead you to believe. A lot of people think ANY hydro is complicated when it can be as easy as one pump and a timer. so...

But I haven't seen many large ops with an aero setup. Mostly DWC and E&F. I would suggest going with an E&F because the yields are similar to DWC (yeah, that's my experience and consensus of what I read, your mileage may vary) and it is more forgiving to mistakes. The bucket E&F systems really solve the E&F problems; i.e. getting reservoirs under tables, little flexibility in placement. And they are relatively chap and they work.

I would recommend buckets, they work awesome and are more flexible all around.

Plastic mortar mixing tubs work well and they're cheap for tables. Available at Home Depot or the like.

Cement mixing trays are 6" deep and the one I have (home depot) is 3x2 (they might have other sizes.) It was $8 + a $10 botanicare ebb/flow drain kit and a $10 water pump.

Restaurant supply stores also sell various trays.
