Keeping Bongs from Breaking

Um, be more careful?

I have never broken a piece. I have never lost 300-1,000+ plus dollars either. Why? Because I am careful with my money just like I am careful with the things I spend money on.

My pieces stay put up at all times. Take it out to smoke and when I am done it goes back in the closet. If the piece is out to smoke I keep it on a flat surface like a table. Hardly ever do I pick my pieces up. Only time bong is in hand is when its in tow from closet to table or vice versa, and when I smoke the only thing I touch is the bowl.

Not really sure why so many people complain about broken pieces. Stop leaving them on the floor, coffee table, etc. and stop letting your dumb ass friends use them. I got cheap pieces for the occasional guest.

Just think of every time you handle your glass pieces their like your holding a woman and this must be done as gentle as possible unless the like it rough :whip: :sasmokin:

My women loves it rough so that analogy doesn't work for me.

just broke another bong today, something like 6 or so in a year. cheap basic glass bongs mostly. i think some ehle or so might take a few more hits but i think i'd end up breaking it anyways so ..

i usually broke them when cleaning the piece in the bathroom, not high!

if i kept breaking my bong while cleaning it in the bathroom i would probably start cleaning it over a surface that wont break it so easily. Lay some towels down or something, Jesus. Now I know why I don't share my pieces with people most of you are clumsy as hell.

Get a shelf or cabinet specifically for your glass smokeware. Bongs get broken when they are left in unusual places.

Smoke out of them, clean them, and return them to the shelf. Simple as that. I recommend a tall storage shelf with doors.

Short of an earthquake, your glass collection will be safe and secure, and will not be knocked over in some kind of random accident.

Heh as for cleaning... Keep in mind, materials scratch and break when they encounter a material that is harder, and pretty much everything in the bathroom fits that category. Basically, be careful as possible when cleaning in there. I do it too, definitely the easiest place, but not the safest.

Consider using soaking products. Grunge Off is amazing - no shaking required, and your glass comes out looking brand new. If you get a cleaning stopper, you can fill up your bong with it and allow it to soak for however long is needed. Prolly need 2 bottles to fill up a large bong, but its reusable, so soak and pour into a container to save for next time. I don't know how well it works myself, but Purple Power is like 7 dollars a gallon and is known to be an amazing degreaser, so that could be a cheap soaking alternative to Grunge Off. In a thread a while back, some folks mentioned Oxyclean works well as a soak too.

Soaking is a lot safer than shaking your bong while trying to hold the openings.

There's Aqua Lab's page of cleaning products. They have the glass stoppers and Grunge Off.

Barbicide jars work great for soaking downstems and bowls too :D

if you are clumsy and not lazy, like someone already said above but instead wrapping ya floor with bubble wraps, why not wrap your whole bong with the damn thing, add enough ducttape and im sure you wont ever break it again ;)

might be uglie to watch but
function > fashion

if you clean your bong often it should be easy to clean and there shouldn't be a lot of shaking. if you allow it to build up, and you're sitting there shaking your piece back and forth its bound to break. i clean my piece once a day so when i clean it i literally use a dab of cleaner, mix it around a little, and I am done.

I usually clean my piece every few weeks as it didnt get that dirty with the perc ash catcher. Put the ash catcher just needs a little shake like 10 seeconds and rinse

Anyone paint their bong before? Would enamel paint work if I paint my pink /purple bong with a black enamel paint?
