How would you grow 24 plants?

I'm growing legally and medically so i'm limited to 24 plants of ANY size.

I'm thinking a perpetual harvest and starting it like this.

Drop 24 seeds in the soil and wait for sexing to happen. Pull all the males and replace with new seeds. Rinse and repeat.

phase 1 gives me 12 females if I get 50% males.
phase 2 gives me 6 females if I get 50% males.
phase 3 gives 3 females if I get 50% males.
phase 4 let's me harvest 12 original females and replant 12 seeds.

This should let me stay in the 24 plant limit while allowing me to stagger harvests for my patients.

Ideas?

Well i dont know what type of time fram your on.....but i would top them once at 2 weeks and again at 4 weeks...scrog it all and enjoy...just my opinion im still kind of new anyway

if i where you . i would plant 24 seeds. then clone them all. wait to spot your fav females. and keep moms of them. then from there plant 12 clones. wait 30 days and plant another 12. now you will be on a cycle where your harvesting half your room . then wait 30 days and harvest your other half.

if you did something like this it would give you time to veg your 12 big enough so that its constant smoke for you...

thats just 1 idea tho. out a billon. ha good luck

if i could grow 24 plants i would go to my backyard clear out like 24x24 feet and plant 24x clones 1 foot apart.

For 24 plants total, I would plant like 10 seeds of some strain or a few strains that you know/like. Veg them for a little bit, clone and flower the clones and see what you get(10 plants, 10 clones, still under the 24 plant limit). Lets say you get 5-6 females, get rid of the males and leave the females flowering out to see what kind of phenotypes youre working with of those particular strains. Now you have 5-6 good female mom plants still vegging, once you harvest you can smoke them and see which you like the most/best and just get rid of the other females. Keep 2-4 good moms, take clones whenever you want from then on. If you dont find any great keeper moms, at least you still have a bunch known females you can keep growing to get some top quality smoke and you are well under the plant limit still so you can just keep popping seeds and experimenting :).

Here is something to consider. Perpetual harvests= GREEN LEASH. Unless you have a knowledgeable, dependable, trustworthy support network that can help you take care of your girls while you are out of town for a few days, I would advise against this route. Make sure they are people who you literally trust your life and livelihood with. I've been doing the perpetual thing for the last 2 years, and the money I am making is not worth the life I am sacrificing.

I wouldn't keep moms either. You don't need them. Clone back from your strongest vegging plants right before you flip your lights to 12/12.

For 24 plants I'd do 12 per light. You'll need 2 select a watt ballasts (400w-1000w), 2 reflectors, 2x400w mh bulbs, 2x1000w hps bulbs and a standard fluorescent shop light ($15 at walmart). 2 weeks clone under the shop light, 4 weeks veg in 2g buckets under 400w halides, 9-10 weeks flower in 5g (tall) buckets under 1k HPS.

Harvest every 15-16 weeks, and then take a week and get the fuck out of town for a little while before you start the next round.

Moms are super easy to keep, once you have had them going for a while you hardly have to do any maintenance at all. What are you supposed to grow from if you dont have any plants to come back to after your week off?

Also for medical patients(like he said he is) sometimes you find one particular strain/phenotype that works wonderfully for you, its nice to have a dependable source for clones of that exact plant.

Shit, I hadn't thought about that. I dunno though, I have to change something that will allow me to get away. Constant 3 week perpetual is turning into a jail sentence, for real.

Maybe I will have to keep moms. Moms on a timed feeding rez? I've got to figure something out...

I was thinking that maybe I'd get a maid
Find a place nearby for her to stay.
Just someone to keep my house clean,
Trim my plants and go away.

6 mos veg then turn your backyard into a forest with tie downs and supports in a raised bed with a drip. Minimal effort with maximum yield.

I'm not much of a soil grower, but to get your plant numbers all female, I would cull the males from the first seed batch and cut clones off the females up to your 24 plant count.

With 24 female clones I would have 6 lights with 4 5gallon dwc buckets under each light, thats 24 plants and about a 10 lb harvest.

Your a soil grower though and it might take too long to veg out 4 plants per light.

Sounds good in theory, but there is a lot that could go wrong with that scenario. Most can't resist dipping into the cookie jar when left alone. You would definitely have to have cameras. And if you catch her and fire her, she knows where you live and grow.

I'm just going to go old school and do them all at once. I'll keep a few moms in hydro under a T5 or rig up a drip system on a timer.

But Enjia, after thinking about it, I don't know actually if this plan would work that well for somebody only growing 24 plants in soil though. Your yields growing the way I recommended wont be enough to sustain you for 15-16wks unless you are able to do 3-4x the number you are restricted to. If you are limited to 24 total plants I would consider hydro, RWDC specifically. Check out the under current systems.

Learn how to clone and grow all females all the time.

Well said, Hank.

Do you think your patients would appreciate you messing about with sexing and dialing in a perpetual harvest system? I imagine they would rather have their medicine sooner than later. If it were me, I would keep four mothers in veg for cloning under a 400w light or T5, and 20 plants under two 2000w lights in 3-5 gallon pots (5 plants per patient for instance, as in oregon law). The probability of getting 50% males for four instances in a row is highly unlikely. Just find vigorous looking females from a twentyfour seed germination attempt and roll with it.

In Washington state, a cutting is considered a plant. (15 plant max.)
Since this is in the soil forum, I'll recommend checking out the Blumat thread.
Might be your salvation, Hoss.

Myself, I'll be trying Tropf Blumats in smart pots (with coco) for blooming and small ebb-and-flow trays for mothers and vegging.
I was thinking perpetual but I'll be doing the monocrop thing instead. I think it will be a more efficient use of the lighting in my tent.
