I've heard this alot, but you have to remember some people are flat out CRAZY. By doing this, you give up your position and element of suprise(if you have it to begin with). I carry with one in the hole, all I gotta do is pull the trigger
I also hear people all the time saying that carrying a chambered round worries them. All cops carry with a round chambered and their guns don't just go off. It takes two hands to rack the slide, if fighting off an attacker you may not have two hands. Just make sure your holster completey covers the trigger.
