What's new

New guy, here.

Hi, name's Doomuhlay.
I've become really interested in growing in recent weeks, and I just have to say: what I've read from lurking the past few days is RIDICULOUSLY HELPFUL. I was hoping to start my own thread with my own plans, looking for tips (because my poor brain is still confused about some things) but I think my plan is pretty solid, for a first-time grow. I've honestly got no connection with anyone around here, so this is a fresh start to somewhere new, and I hope I can be around for a while, see if I can meet some new people, see if I can master this art, and such.

So thanks for reading (if you read this). :ying:

(also: where would I post a thread about my plans? Would a grow diary be alright for getting tips for others before I've actually begun the grow, or should I post elsewhere?)

Hi Doomuhlay and welcome to ICMag,
Nice to see new growers becoming independent :)

You can create your own forum topic under the "Growers Forums." Just select the option that applies to you in terms of Soil, Hydro, Organic, etc. Everyone always willing to help should you have questions. It really is a great site..

Thanks, SumDumGuy. :D

Alright, I'll go check those out and see where I get to. & I've noticed that, it's why I chose to join this community over some other also very good ones.

(also, I read your first 1000W DWC 3x3 ScROG thread, and I enjoyed looking at it. I'm leaning towards DWC, and your thread helped me in a few little things I was still questioning. :good:)

I will haha, but yeah, no matter how good or how bad, it's always a learning experience. I'll definitely do that, man, thanks. Great hospitality here too? Already loving ICMag. :)

If you don't have experience growing plants from seed...I suggest you start with something simple... I would suggest soil/soil-less mix and not jump right into hydro. I know some people will disagree but I think simple is the way to start.

Good luck!

I see what you mean. I was thinking of doing two separate grows (1 soil, 1 hydro|DWC) and comparing them to see which I enjoy and had more success with. I'd like to enjoy my growing as much as I'd like to enjoy my yield.

Thanks for the input, and the luck, ibjamming. :D

I actually would give the opposite advice. I have helped several beginners start up drip systems and flood and drain SOGS/SCROGS in grow rox. Too easy and with Lucas formula, its almost fool-proof and IS a lazy mans nute mix.

Is this the Lucas formula (with GenHydro)?:
Vegging: Grow = 0 / Micro = 5ml per gallon / Bloom = 10ml per gallon.

Flowering: Grow = 0 / Micro = 8ml per gallon / Bloom = 16ml per gallon.

(from a post in another forum by "ViRedd". I have it bookmarked because it was the first easily explained formula-related thing I found lol.)

Also, would you be able to link me to a post where you explained those systems to some beginner like me, or be able to explain it to me, personally? I'd be interested if I could get my first direct explanation to hydroponics. I mostly copied my current plan from a mix of grow journals :chin:. (I'm still hoping to do both soil and hydro, though. For future reference lol.)

Thanks for posting here, too, BigBudBill. :tiphat:

The 0-5-10 formula is only for low intensity lighting(florescent). You can use the 0-8-16 during veg. Its mild enough to prevent burning. Just remember the Lucas formula doesn't 'push' the plants hard. But as a beginner, you need to learn to crawl and then walk before you can run. Here is a link to the perfect beginner thread for those interested in learning a basic hydroponic system from Lucas himself:

Ah, alright, thanks! I'll go through that thread and suck up all the information I can. :dance013:
