Marijuana Laws in Ontario?

I can't seem to find these ANYWHERE?!
I'm interested in all laws regarding marijuana in the province. Possession, distribution, and growing laws.
How harsh is this province?
I'm moving up from Michigan so am expecting it to be a little more lax.
Hopefully I'll be legal, but that may take a year or more..
Anyone with any advice?

The criminal code in Canada is mandated by the federal government rather than the province (unlike the USA where states enact criminal legislation).

You can find information on the criminal code of Canada and the various schedules for drugs here:

peace brother.

Thanks for the link and info :D
+rep to ya!

Are there any plant specific regulations? Say over a certain amount of plants = worse offense? I didn't seem to find anything on that..

How "stiff" would you say canada is? They say a maximum of seven years but I doubt that ever happens..

You may not have the answer for me but if I got caught growing a non-legal grow w/ 6-8kw in lights and under 100 plants any estimate on punishment?
I do not have any other offenses and have a clean record.

Thanks for any help :D

This should give you an idea....things are getting bad... Don't get caught. You'll be sent home and you won't be able to come back.

Damn.. Sure would screw things up for a while.
Security is going to have to be AAA+ for me to do this.. Can't afford to be kicked out of Canada :/

At least its more relaxed than the U.S. and the plant numbers are 200 and below. Allows me to grow more instead of limiting.

Remember that you are still a citizen of the USA . As such you rights are some what limited to the conditions set in your student visa.

Getting nailed with growing cannabis is certain deportation.

S-10 has not been passed YET :(

1. not bad but he wont ever be allowed back into canada.

2. the first lawyer i had was really good but was made a judge about a year into the case the second guy i wasnt as happy with.

3. i wanted the case dissmissed the cops perjured themselves and broke all kinds of rules to get us but thats typical. they knew i was going to fight it so they dragged it out for over three years before it was over.

mass producer- thats right my probation officer even let me off probation a couple months early he said there was no point in me wasting my time coming in there. compare that with my partner who get sent back to virginia and got 40 years for a way smaller grow.

straintester- i dont even like to think about the money i spent over those 3 years. thats what they do though if they know you have the resources to fight they drag it on until you have no money left. there were times i would show up to court and the judge wouldnt. they just keep delaying and every time the laywer steps foot in the court house its thousands of dollars wether they do anything or not.

Thanks for the reply.
Well at least you are a free man so the lawyer did his job and with compassion.
Thats at least refreshing to read.
Good for you.:tiphat:

Generally speaking if you know how to deal with police you can avoid charges. If you are charged; fight it, it will be a hassle but you'll get off easier in the long run. Don't claim guilt! Most people end up incriminating themselves by admitting to something that the cops don't have any evidence for. Its best to keep your mouth shut until you get a lawyer!

For the most part Ontario can be pretty chill. We're not as bad as most American states (right now at least). Toronto (where i live) is especially chilled out. We have a lot of cool smoking lounges and head-shops, and a massive stoner culture. Since you'll be in Ontario id recommend you come and check them out!

The only issue is that Canada is facing a potential prison reform to a system much closer to the American model of tough on crime/punishment. If your passionate about it, you should get active in the prohibition protests around Canada. The main one that i can think of is the Marijuana March in May, which is a massive event in Toronto. Other than that you would have to look around to find out more or if your interested i could find you some info.

I've got less than a dozen plants so i'm not too personally concerned but it is good to know that people aren't getting it too bad for growing a plant.

Actually i wouldn't be too relieved just yet. There is a new version of bill c-15 that is currently being debated in the senate. The new bill S-10, includes MANDATORY minimum sentencing for 6+ plants. that means any 6 marijuana plants. This could include clones, mother plants, male plants, or even thrown out/waste plants.

You can keep updated here; http://www2.parl.gc.ca/Sites/LOP/LE...ession=23&Type=0&Scope=I&query=7007&List=stat

Thanks miniweiz

Yes this new version of an old bill that ALREADY got shot down is BS
I really can't see this bill being passed the way things are presently going here in Canada
PLUS I have a license from HC to grow for a patient that has been signed from a doctor

I'm actually UNDER my plant count just for this reason alone
Recently there have been quite a few police officers getting into trouble by ripping out medicinal grows before viewing the paperwork and have had to compensate for the losses

Here is what we are handing out our way

Its rediculous and irritating. We all worked hard to get C-15 shot down and now they just throw it back at us with another name. Fucking politics, amiright?

Also i saw some people from that site at the convention this weekend. Signed the petition(for what thats worth), but i wish there was more to do against it.

C15 never got shot down. It didn't advance simply because the government got perogued and all bills waiting at the time got cancelled so to say. When Parliamant resumed it was reintroduced, with a new name.
