Dude you have to know what your talking about is ridiculous. If a politician started talking like you he would end up in the mental ward or a Kentucky senator.I have said it before, and I will say it again....if you want to prevent shit like this happening in the future, there is only one real solution that will actually work in the long term....it's very simple.
Make the CEO's of large corporations and the boards of directors personally responsible for shit like this....and when it does happen on their watch.....EXECUTE THE FUCKERS.....no second chance, no fucking around.
If these parasitic fuckwads want to enjoy the wealth, power and unbridled privilege their position and responsibilities give them....then let them be accountable on the other end when shit goes wrong.
If these extreme measures had been adopted after the murder by Corpo-Nazis of 25 000 innocents at Bhopal, you can be 100% fucking guaranteed that the Deepwater Horizon disaster would never have happened.....
We cannot afford to let these narcissistic, malignant parasites have their way with our economy, our environment and our future........they are way to powerful now, and the damage they can wreak when shit goes wrong could lead to an extinction level event...if not this time, then the next......
The only way to stop it is to put the personal asses of those in charge on the line....only then they will make damn fucking sure shit does not go wrong.
As long as they are invulnerable in their ivory towers, untouchable by the law and with untold millions in who knows how many untraceable accounts, you can count on this kind of wanton destruction of our only home on the name of Holy Profit to continue until we have fuck all to eat, breath or drink.
Yea 10ft seas are no joke. My dad and I got caught on Lake Erie with 10ft waves a few years ago, in a 19ft boat. -_- Went nose into the waves, dropped anchor, and waited it out. Roller coasters aren't shit compared to that.
Dude you have to know what your talking about is ridiculous. If a politician started talking like you he would end up in the mental ward or a Kentucky senator.
I know it's off topic, but I just want to point something out. Anchoring your boat in high seas is a good way to sink your boat. Be carefull out there.
Yea I don't pretend to be an expert or anything, but that's what my dad decided was best at the time. (He grew up on the lakes.) Regardless, it was one of the scariest things I've ever seen.
Ridiculous or not, it is the only thing that will actually prevent this sort of shit from happening again and again, until the Corpo-Nazi profit-monsters fuck up so bad there is no return, and we all fucking die because some evil goatblower in a suit wanted another percentage point on his quarterly reports.......
Call it extreme, call it ridiculous....I don't give a shit.
When it comes down to raw fucking reality, personal (and I mean life and death personal) liability is the only thing that will keep these malignant monsterous fucking parasites from rendering our only fucking home uninhabitable by our own fucking species.
And if you can live with that, then sit back, suck on yer diet cola and enjoy the plastic, synthetic world the Corpo-Nazis have designed for you to inhabit and keep running with your labour and your unchecked consumption(for which they have trained you so very well).
no the only way to stop it is to end demand....
you and i are part of the problem.
the computer you are using to suggest it is all the ceo of bp's fault is made from the shit spewing from the earth(in some part) and of course it was probably not manufactured in your town so it had to be transported...
you get the point pot/kettle...glass houses and what not...ITS OUR FAULT just as much as BP so dont get to smug
You can sit there and take the blame for these evil spunk-guzzlers, dagnabit....but I sure as fuck will not.
100% bullshit.
How does the presence of a market automatically give the suppliers of said market the right to act in a psychotically irresponsible manner, all in the name of profit?
Why do we all assume that it is a corporations right to be as irresponsible as they can, all in the name of profit?
Just because there is a need at present for a product does not give the folks who are supplying it the right to risk our entire fucking biosphere so they can make a few more millions on their yearly bonuses.
BP officials cut corners and continued to drill a wellhead that was not safe, at a depth WAY beyond their ability to deal with a disaster, all because they were loosing a few million dollars a day....which to a major player in the most profitable industry in human history is not even fucking spare change...it is infinitesimal.
It is not in any way preposterous to expect that those who run large industries (and profit greatly from them) should do so in a safe and responsible manner, and ludicrous to allow them to do otherwise when the future of our entire fucking species is at stake.
Capitalism seems to give anyone who is chasing the Hoy Grail of profit free rein to do whatever that fuck they want in said chase, and those who suffer are so well trained that they blame themselves, instead of placing the blame where it is deserved..on greedy white-collar criminal goatfuckers who risk things like Deepwater Horizon on a daily basis for the sake of a few points on those holy profit reports........
You can sit there and take the blame for these evil spunk-guzzlers, dagnabit....but I sure as fuck will not.
I will lay the blame where it belongs...at the feet of the greedy Corpo-Nazi scum.
Dude you have to know what your talking about is ridiculous. If a politician started talking like you he would end up in the mental ward or a Kentucky senator.
100% bullshit.
a strawman fallacy that is irrelevant to the discussion. nobody is disputing that big company execs are blood sucking parasites that need to be heavily reigned in.How does the presence of a market automatically give the suppliers of said market the right to act in a psychotically irresponsible manner, all in the name of profit?
again, everyone here agrees. what some are saying is that the blame game is fucking useless. nobody is "to blame" for the accident. im sure a number of parties share blame, but how does one's possession of blame translate into making this scenario less likely to happen in the future? assigning blame is useless for prevention of the next accident. that's what we're trying to achieve. working from the rational (and undisputable) standpoint that oil is in demand, we as a civilization must have it to survive, and thus it must be drilled, we then undertake to make its extraction as safe as possible. at least a rational person would; some asshole at the top of BP probably let his underlings do whatever they pleased as long as his paychecks stayed fat. you can sue that guy until hes dead and buried penniless, but doing so wont stop the next guy who feels hes too lucky for it to happen on his watch. we need to stop the circumstances that lead to idiots being able to make decisions that cause accidents like this. an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.Just because there is a need at present for a product does not give the folks who are supplying it the right to risk our entire fucking biosphere so they can make a few more millions on their yearly bonuses.
thats 1 QUART of oil toxifies 250,000 gallons
so a gallon would toxify a million gallons.
the source is the EPA but they were talking about used motor oil.

supposedly there is some light at the end of the tunnel
“A Whale” Skimmer Ship Arrives in Gulf,it is said that an average sized modified fishing boat would be able to skim around 80,000 liters of oil from the surface of the ocean each day. However, this new super skimmer that has arrived in the area can remove 250 times this amount.
If all goes well, then the vessel is expected to clear up around 21 million liters of oil from the area each day. This amount is around 10 times the amount of oil that is leaking into the water each day meaning that the vessel will actually almost clear up the area entirely.
