Another 600 or use a 400?

I have a 4x4x6.5 tent, and Im running a 600 hps in there. Which comes out to 37.5 watts per square foot. I really want to reach that 50 psqft mark, and get some bigger juicier buds!

I have a 400 hps with a bat wing reflector laying around. Im thinking maybe I should use that, but then, I would have to buy a cool tube for it. The other choice is to buy another 600 setup


Im currently exhausting out the attic, and ambient temps are 74F. I'm also using a 6" Hydrofarm Active Air 400cfm fan.

So whatcha think?

or maybe I should just buy a 1000 hps?? AHHH I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO!! lol

yes, absolutely, with 400 cfm you could cool 3 1kw lights and 4 if you have magnum xxxl hoods.

BTW, I hung the 400 in the tent, bare bulb, and the temps didnt get too hot. It was 84F, so with a 1k and a coolable reflector, temps shouldn't be a problem.

600 are known to be the most efficient set up. i run 600 95% of the time, and would recommend the same, d

600 is the way to go but if coin is low use that 400 that you have I have a 600 and a 400 in a dr120 homemade cooltubes that are great and temps stay in check...

Sooooo... I found a digi 600 setup AND a 1k magnetic ballast setup on Craigslist. They're about the same price. Im stuck! Another 600 or 1K !?!? HEEELPP!!

You can get a brand new diy 1k ballast for around 120 1k is pretty much the standard for a 4x4 space, very easy to wire.

1000 arent worth the heat or electricity. i find digy 600 to be equivalent to 1000 cord and coil. they can be placed closer, so more usable lumens to the canopy, good luck, d

600w HPS + 400w CMH, you only spend $50 on the bulb.

Either that or another 600, only since you already have a 600. Like said earlier 600's are pretty dam efficient and you can get them closer. 2 bulbs closer>1 stronger bulb farther..

I would personally go with 2x600. Would you go with to 2 HPS bulbs, 2 MH bulbs, or 1 MH and 1 HPS?

i am running 4x400 mh and looking to add 2x400 hps i think its easier to maintane the right room temp with lower watt bulbs then 1ks, plus a 400 hps is really 360watt but alot better light spectrum

btw, Im going to look at the 600 tomorrow. Hopefully its not beat up. $150 for 600 digital ballast, all the cords, and a batwing reflector. Wish me luck!
