your plants are bushing out so nicely :tiphat: , i gotta rig up some early season supp lighting next year ... its pretty crucial to grow monsters.

I cant wait to see these plants in august they are going to be huge!

thanks D9!

the plants are bushy cus i kept topping them early, and then spreading them out in the cage to promote side branching.

its all hit and miss and trial and error at this stage in my growing experience. i took clones a while back and used that as an excuse to top some of the ladies in the field to try to even out the growth. im rethinking that move, should have just taken them off the bottom, it really slowed the growth on the girls i cut.

however, WOW at the quality of clones i got from the outside girls. i took big ass cuts to try my hand at large clone making. they might have taken slightly longer than usual to root, but they all rooted and its like they have a jump on life being larger than the normals i take.

im discovering that the unammended soil i made for the backyard is kinda dookie.

i had the yard mix all the base ingredients, lime it then add pumice. had them separate this un ammended soil and bag it seperately from the rest of the batch so i could use it as my indoor tea fed soil.

well my fuck up because i calculated the liming including the ammendments. i wanted them to lime before they mixed in the pumice so as to get a better distribution of the lime. that was my focus. i dropped the ball not realizing that that would way over lime the unammended soil.

when creating a mix from scratch i neglected the golden rule of dont experiment without an experiment. its hard for me to resist the urge to tinker and play mad scientist, and end up making everything myself- sometimes at the cost of what i know as tried and true. however, i do like my outdoor mix and its working. i just need to make some adjustments from obsevations this round and see how they perform full term.

so far:

lime- down
gypsum - up
60/40 pumice perlite
less zeolite
bark - more
peat- less, and better sourced (not the ultra fine)

thats from my last batch of indoor, 7 plants 6 lbs. but ugh 2 plants made 2 lbs of bulshit JC from cali conn. still pissed about that, they autoed and were never the same. what a nightmare i cant even move that shit for bad outdoor prices. should have went with all hindu and silver buddha and been at 3 to 4 allll day. i thought i was bein clever goin with the hype on the cc plants. to be fair (somewhat) to them, dude lied to me about having flowered out the clones i got.

other than that it was a great room, the silver got me my first ever pound plus plant at 19 oz. although the gods gift was the last of its kind and only yielded .6 of a lb it was fun to be there for its final go round.

Local Great update they truly look gorgeous. I want to thank you for sharing this thread my friend you have inspired an unexplainable amount. Thanks to you I decided to make my own pots and they turned out great. Hey I had a question, how are you going to trim the inside of the plants to prevent popcorn? I noticed you caged it in so you can't get in there, maybe just let it go. Loving the yard.

Good job on your indoor. I am goin to do some KBS buckets in door maybe if I decide to do indoor again. lit up like you have 4 1K around 1 plant. Thought I Told ya Cali Connect sucks? That farmers market for cuts in clear lake may be a place for you to check out if you want to get something different, but I always recommend growing what you know.

thanks man, yeah im not sure yet if im gonna let it go or what. i trimmed em up before transplant outdoors, if im gonna do it again it will have to be soon, before they start the transition to flower.

its funny you mention that. i was just putting redworms (i meant to use nightcrawlers) in my pots while watering and scraping up my arms in the small holes i cut out of the cages for the irrigation. im gonna have to open up some windows so i can trim em.

one of the biggest diffences in yield from the silver buddha came when i cleared up her skirt. if u let that plant go you will have a ton of popcorn. makes great amber bubble though. theres something satisfying about zipping off popcorn buds.

I cant wait to check out that farmers market. its a goal of mine after i clear out this yard.

the kb style is fun but finnicky and slow to get rolling. i dont start and finish in the same room.i veg as long as i can in overhead mh and then transfer to the kb -ish style flower room. i think the change from top to side freaks em out somewhat.

it would be a much better system if i had more room to veg. ideally having 5 generations lined up and vegging, getting big as hell.

if i could veg with side lighting then it might be possible to make the flower room perpetual, eliminating the adjustment. although that would semi defeat the purpose of cutting down on electricity bills.

i was considering making a room out of a reefer unit just for the ac capacity, although the 8' width would be hard to work with, and the ac wouldnt be distributed well being only on one side. my other flower room has a bottle necked ac setup due to the house layout. that room is far harder to keep cool. not good when you have 8 bare bulbs in so cal.

the larger the room, the more efficient the climate and light pattern with multiple plants sharing lights. with more space i would create a rectangular set up, repeating the light pattern along the length for however hardcore i wanted to make it. placing mini splits evenly along the long walls. allowing for walk ways on either side of the plants also along the long walls.

dont forget your pro foggers : http://www.hydrofogger.com/?gclid=CLjFmJnOzaICFQE_bAodDz6oxA fed with ro water or youll get a ton of limescale (learned this)

using electronic ballasts are crucial and lol never put them inside that room. i burned out 12 electronic ballasts due to their cooling fans fogging their insides.

that style grow cant be beat for keeping down plant numbers, and i can easily see getting 2 lb plants with the right genetics and veg. but sometimes i think a traditional top lit room would just be so much simpler lol.

Looking great LH!

OOC, how much is your power bill? I was running 2 1000w, 1 250w, 1 450w Ac unit, and a 8" blower on 12/12... and my power bill was 700 bucks...

Im new to cali though... is this normal for that usage? i didnt use any household stuff like AC really...

Absolutely beautiful! Thanks for taking the time to put that progression together. Amazing how these weeds can grown month to month, yes!?!

I love your set-up and the straw on the ground.

:tiphat: :dance013: :thank you:

thanks ghetto child, LB, and Sunshine!

LB- my electricity bill is sky high, so high that a supervisor from dwp came to my house to hand deliver my bill and see why it was so high. "im a welder, i make scuptures"... "are you welding right now, the meters goin nuts" lol i forgot to turn off the garage room when he came back to check the meter.

the one good thing that came out of that visit was that i had him install a radio frequency meter so they can check the meter from the street without having to invade my space. it would have sucked to have someone coming into my yard right now.

my meter guy used to drive all the way into my long dirt drive way and walk about 15 feet from the box... even with the rf meter. I started shutting my gate and cut a clear path for him to shoot from. I even called PG&E about his "intrusive nature" and let them know there are dogs on the property and he should be more safe.

Any problems since then?
