Am I Doing it Right?

quick question to the seasoned dro growers out there. The Ph in my veg system is fluctuating wildly. LikeI set at 6.0 and in 24 hours im reading 4.0. there is no plant in the system. two days ago i peroxided the entire thing and then pumped it dry and cleaned everything. im hoping that this helps. ive added aqua sheild at the maximum recommended dosage in the res as well. This is a RDWC. Res capacity is ten gallons, single 5 gallon bucket being recirculated. any input would be appreciated.

Water is tap @ 150 PPM

Nutrients- Ionic Veg, Hygrozyme, Aqua Sheild.

Before anyone starts on the "hygrozyme bad" tyraid, same thing is in my flowering res with no problems. so what have you knowledgeable people of IC?

Ok so heres day 50 of flower. getting close to chop shop time for the old girl. The MH has produced nice flowers and while i will say that th plant has grown well, the bud development could have been alot better. Ill be switiching over to a HPS as soon as i can get my hands on the coin for it. realistically, i think that i lost somewhere on the order of (best estimate) 10-20% on weigfht due to spectrum. I used to discount the importance of spectrum, im a believer now.

My PH woes were cured with hydrogen peroxide and a thorough cleaning fo the entire system. Check your PH people it will let you know if something is wrong!

So once chop day comes ill remove the bigger fan leaves, take some over all shots and post them for your guys. Interested in what a 1 square foot RDWC grow will yeild? so am i!

Weight Weight is in. The plants were taken down on day 60. Trichomes showed appx: 30% amber 50% cloudy and 20% clear.

Wet weight was 299g of Bud & 100g of choked out undergrowth.

Pictures to come.

Hi

Ok,, the early photos look like the plants were struggling for the correct pH/balance of nutrients,, slightly stripped leaves and twisting,, as the thread grows the plants look healthier,, esp. on macro.. but the some of the fan-leaf tips are looking slightly burnt (i got eyes like an eagle ladies n gentleman),, so chill on the feed..

this variety also looks to be deceiving.. nice resin on the outer leaves... so let it grow on as naturally a possible and try not to over do it with chemicals ,, keep the pH str8 as you can..

Those purple pistils look neat btw  :D

all the best.. keep us updated
peace n flowers

Doc,

that burn your talking about has had me stumped for a while. i first thought it was a ph problem in the veg bucket. andafter constant test i found i was getting a wild swing in PH out of the veg system. But after nuking the system with 30% h2o2 and cleaning everything painstakingly with bleach paper towels, i have a steady PH that rises with addbacks. ive had three durbans all from the same mother plant all show the same stress early on in the veg stage. usualy manifests its self around the two week mark. Ive tried high nutrients (900ppm) and low nutrients (500ppm) keeping the Ph between 5-6.

As far as flowering my PPMs are not really that high (at least IMHO). i rarely go over 1100ppm in flowering. My ratio on Flower to boost nutrients is usually 3 to 1. aqua sheild in both reservoirs at 7ml per gallon. Altho im not willing to throw in the towel on hygrozyme im stopping its use to see if there is any change one way or another. My res temps are 68-70 degrees constant. ive been thinking about throwing some frozen bottles in the res just for insurance. I have airpumps for both reservoirs, along with pump driven venturis. i cant see this being a DO issue. but what the hell a couple bottles of ice cant hurt.

i'd really like any input your willing to give on that stress.

as promised here they are.

not bad for the first go around with a new system. Cant wait for the HPS and to get the feeding dialed in.

Cheepo dry box. two computer fans and a 9 volt power supply. if you want to do this, keep a careful eye drying as this thing will crisp your buds in a hurry. you DO NOT want to over dry.

Dry weight is in!

Dry weight is in!

Final cured dry weight is in. 35.6 grams dry. not a great number off the wet weight but density will improve as i get better with the scrog method. HPS is on the way!
