Considering the way contending samples are judged (long smoking orgies) only samples that pack a strong punch (quality of high doesn't matter so much) and taste good will make impression to someone who has smoked 20 samples before that. Some strains with more "gentle" effects (which might be better for all-day use than the winners) stand no chance to be felt unless smoked first (by chance). You can't see a single true sativa in the list of winners - with a slow onset and a peak after hours a pure sat can only contribute to the impressions of the next samples.

2004 when Arjan's Haze won The People's Cup was a complete scam, the weed was like hay, just awful. That was also the year Gypsy was throwing tons of packs of freebie Skunk #1 and Durban x Skunk away to people off the balcony in the Melkweg. I picked up half a dozen packs of the Skunk but only got one pack of the Durban x Skunk sadly, and only one seed germed and it was male. I wish I'd picked up a few more of those packs.

I find it strange that GHS is mentioned whenever paranoia makes people feel corruptness??? I don't see any proof...or for me what could trigger my consent!?
If we could line up all the strains and make them run 100m sprint, 400m, and so on and so on....we could find THE winner(at running at least lol) but since we grow these plants for the effect and taste, there will ALLWAYS be warriables. I find it hard to believe that taste is experienced 100% the same from person to person! Or the high to be experienced the same....where such factors as mental state and mood is going to affect the experience. I agree the judges could handle the judging differently, but with all the strain entering now, I think they would be at it for months if they have to ' let the smoke clear' before smapling the next entry.
I find it great the events such as these are even possible, big or small. I find the most important thing to be that growers and smokers unite!
I'm on to smoke a winner.......my winner at least.....hehe.....take care and keep speading the word!!!!!!!!
