Will These Explode?

Those bulbs go into a fixture that contains a ballast. I am not sure if they will explode if you screw one in and turn it on, but in the same breath, I will tell you I am not going to be the one who finds out. They do make some pretty big self ballasted cfl's(just like the little guys, only bigger), and I will occasionally see them at Lowe's. This is more like what you are looking for-http://www.homedepot.com/Lighting-Fans-Light-Bulbs-Compact-Tube-Fluorescents-Compact-Fluorescents/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ1xr5Zbmg1/R-100676712/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053

Those are designed for a special mount hence the different thread design on the base. A fixture (reflector set) can be had for one on the Bay for 100 or less. I'd say look for a 125 to 200 watter but can tell you they eat bulbs like candy. I do not recommend them myself considering I bought 3 bulbs for my 125 in a little less than 18 months but will say they ran all the time lol.

I'm simply saying there are other alternatives that are better suited for our hobby's use and these things are great for seedlings and beans but don't last long enough to be considered beneficial imo.

Now how much more of a cheap ass you gotta be to use a hoe to hold up your light?

Now once again just my opinion here but if ya got room for an extra 100.00 you can get one of these:

And for around 45.00 for dollars you got yourself a ghetto fab setup that PRODUCES.

Or you can say the hell with it and go mad crazy:

Either way understand your gonna be buying shit for this damn hobby for as long as you are doing it. To bite the bullet and go more than you need the first time it will save you a small fortune over the course of time.

Be Well

Not to brag to much, but I found this at the thrift store the other day-for only $10 dollars out the door, bad ass find. The switch was bad, but I fixed it in no time flat, and who needs a switch when you have more timers than what you know what to do with
