Everyone wants it legalized and with that we welcome the government into our grows and bongs.

discuss a proposed tax measure for placement on the November 2010 ballot to update and modernize the business operations tax and to tax marijuana businesses

MJJ is not a tax free commodity. They have been charging sales tax for years at clubs. All the clubs I go to include it in the price...some don't and it's an extra charge.

Yeah i saw this all over the local news stations a couple of days ago. All the local club already pay tax but this is about adding a local city tax to it as well. Its just another way for them to get money out of us. The real kicker is that they want the money but they don't want the clubs or at least the options to get rid of the clubs whenever they feel like it. Basically they are trying to use us like a 2 dollar whore. Its getting crazy out there guys. Ripoffs are rampant, quality is all over the place, clubs are fighting against other clubs, and everyone wants into the game. I see people all the time that are rolling into hydro shops buying everything that they can without one drop of experience and of course they have their buddies with them that are going to help them run it all. Usually about 6 months goes by and then I hear the story of the problems that came up and the break up of their good friend ripping them off. I honestly don't like the growth of this industry as I feel that many are trying to get in without having put any time or efforts into it. Oh well. Thanks vta for staying on top of it like you do my man.
Peace.

The government is a lot more willing to not dictate morality when there is money in it for them. Look at liquor, cigs, gambling and even prostitution.

oh if you thought that was bad check out what Oakland wants to do to growers. If you can afford a quarter million bucks for permits you will become a criminal if prop 19 passes.

Remember prop 215 said we could grow anywhere without regulation or restriction in unlimited amounts (people v kelly)

Growing marijuana can be lucrative, but the city’s proposed new rules would eliminate small-timers. It would cost $5,000 just to apply for a cultivation permit, and a regulatory fee of $211,000 for the lucky winners. If one has the cash,
