Hi so I think enzymes are useful however they are costly and I feel they usually have sat on the shelf as many people leave them out do to high cost. So I have heard that theese so called enzyme products are nothing more than "pond cleaner" so I am curious if there is any truth behind this. And if so are ther any folks on here using the pond cleaners and how much, which kind, whats is the difference.

I guess it depends on the style of grow and which enzyme.
I am sure Canna's Zym and other similar products are helpful at clearing dead roots and keeping your medium clean, I re-use coir and apply Zym when I clean a pile after a grow, after I apply, I place the coir in bags until needed.
When I come to use it a few weeks later there are no roots left, they have been converted into all kinds of nutrients and vitamins. I only use this way, I don't apply as recommended throughout the grow, it is quite economical this way.

Dude, there is a ton of info on these boards, please before you just start making all kinds of threads use the search function and see if it has been covered before. Yes, people have used enzymes such as pond enzymes, septic tank enzymes, cannazym, hygrozyme, this zyme that zyme and the other zyme.

I typed this into google, site:icmag.com enzyme and it returned 10,100 results, start there, and come educate us on what you learn when your done, lol.

Metal-I have read the forums and i have seen some reports but I was looking for some solid knowledge and experience on the effects of using pond cleaner in an organic application to speed composition and combat toxins in the soil. Not that I am having any issues I am just looking into other means of supplying my garden with quality enzymes that do not cost 40+usd per liter as I do not grow for profit of any kind other than my own. Time and time again I have found that most gardening products are weaker forms of a raw substance. Such as all the high dollar carb additives. I mean I use mollases, agave nectar, raw honey(contains natural tricantanol), karo syrup and I am sure if I bottled that with some yucca and dextrose I could charge folks 50 dollars a liter with it watered half down and it would be better than any crap at the shop right now. So I am sure with a little help I can eliminate yet another bottle or tub of half dead organisims that i need to buy as I am alomost out.

Im not sure what any of that has to do with enzymes but here, i did it for you:

I think that thread has all the info in it you are looking for. It talks about making a diy enzyme product using raw substances as you call them.

Theres lots of different ways to grow, some people like raw honey and karo, some people like 20 different expensive bottles, whatever floats your boat.

I have personally used hygrozyme, it caused root problems for me, and i have heard of other people having the same problem. I have also used Multi Zyme and Bud XL, which are H&G's overpriced enzymes, I dont think they do anything. IMO if your looking for something to add to your regimen, fulvic/humic acid, and silica are two great additions.

Although you have given great advice I already use technaflora liquid humis with 15% humic acid with 1-1-16 seaweed from them as a replacement for LK. And I just grabbed a bottle of LXR gold from grotek (fulvic) And I also use grotek silica 0-0-3 So Thanks for the advice but as you can see I have covered the elements that you have mentioned.

And thanks metalhead for the enzyme link!
The first one was exactly what I needed and the second one was more of how I thought. I will be working with the info you have provided for me. I also used hygrozyme and It really smells just like beer almost. It did not do anything for me or rotten roots at all. Sensizyme smells like brewers yeast alot so not sure about those high dollar enzymes at all/
