To convert litres to gallons multiply by 0.264 (e.g. 10 litres is 10 X 0.264 = 2.64 gallons)
To convert from gallons to litres multiply by 3.75 (e.g. 10 gallons is 10 X 3.75 = 37.5 litres)

To convert from grams to ounces multiply grams by 0.0357
To convert from Ounces to grams multiply ounces by 28.3

Weights/volumes of organic amendments/ferts

1 TBS (tablespoon) of Dolomite lime powder = 22g/ 0.75 ounces
1 TBS Seaweed meal = 12g / 0.4 ounces
1 TBS Rock phosphate = 24g / 0/85 oz
1 TBS Rock potash = = 22g/ 0.75 ounces
1 TBS Hoof & horn = 12g / 0.4 ounces
1 TBS Rock (P) Guano = 18g / 0.63 oz
1 TBS Fresh (N) Guano = 4g / 0.14 oz
NB – guanos may vary so best to check your brand yourself

eg. if a soil mix requires 5g/litre of rock phosphate and you are making 10 litres then you need 50g of dolomite. to find TBS divide total grams needed by the wight of a tablespoon of that amendment so 50g dolomite divided by 22g = 2.25 TBS or 2 and 1/4 tablespoons

someone please check this for mistakes

any more please post them and i will add to the list

I know that all of my guanos were different. one fluffy.....Mexican think and also the PSG. But the Jamaican and Indonesian were more of a pellet type of poo. My guanos here are like tat also so the weight for each is different.

I think that would apply to all of the amendments we use. Also a factor is the quality and who manufactures them.

yeah i actually find it quicker to weigh my stuff than measure out loads of tablespoons! also i am experimenting with changing the dose of certain ferts like guano and weights are more accurate i think. whatever works best for you :)

thanks sleepy!

von - i would have thought that many amendments are fairly consistent in weight - certainly the rock dusts and dolomite.

if anyone can furnish us with weights for a TBS of bonemeal, bloodmeal, alfalfa meal etc then we can expand the list.

cheers
