Running a grow op without a car

Hola IC :tiphat:
I will be selling my car after this summer as I will be heading off to be a full time student and would love to save some extra money by not driving + selling my car. Not to mention the added benefits of 0 emissions, no gas, and exercise from riding my bike everywhere. :dance013:

Only problem with this is that I am planning on running a medium sized (4-6kw) grow next year in a rental house (may end up buying one if it's the right price.)

How would this work w/o a car?
Any of you guys on IC goin car-less?

My initial idea is to either rent a car or try to figure out a reasonable excuse to borrow a car for a day or two from a friend.
I'd have to make sure that I have everything or almost everything needed to setup my grow and keep it running for at least one grow cycle/harvest.

I think a hydro setup may be the easiest as I would be able to avoid lugging soil all over the place.

I am worried about having to tear down quickly and get outta the house but hopefully this would never be a problem. If it is a problem you guys have any ideas? A car would definetly be needed for this I feel like..

Any help on this IC?

No seriously. You need a vehicle unless you have some very close trusted partner to deliver your goods.

I didn't have a car for over a year. I would make sure that if anyone was going to the hydro store, they would call me. I'd ride my bike over to their house or take the bus. Then buy little things. All the big things. I rented a van and bought enough of everything for two pulls.

Sounds like you're not trying to ask anyone for their car, lest it be suspicious. So I recommend renting a van(uhaul) and buying everything you need. Especially if it won't fit into your back pack.

You can always rent a car if you really need it, after the initial purchases..

If you have to tear it down, you can rent a van as well. If you don't have enough time to rent a van. I doubt you would have enough time to clean up the op.

Grow Soil or Hydro. It doesn't matter. Unless disposing of the material is an issue where you live, which I'm guessing it is. So hydro. I prefer Coco.

HAHAH or I could tie a wagon to the back :bigeye:

Yep: Definetly need a vehicle I think too.

and u-Haul rent pick-up Trucks locally for 19.99 per 24 hours

it can be dun
:ying:

I checked zipcar and they don't operate in my city (damn...) it's definetly a cool program though!

I will check about pickup trucks.. $20 for a days use is an awesome price! I could get everything done in 24 hrs if I planned properly..

No one where I live will know that I am growing, or most likely make runs to the hydro store so that may not be an option.

I think I am going to rent a car for a day and just get all purchases done in that day. I'll have to make sure I plan for everything I'll need.
Things like extra nutes and pest control can easily be brought back on my bike though :p

I think that I will probably go hydro but we will see. I'm not sure exactly where the house will be yet so hopefully I will have a place to properly dispose of stuff :D

if your not worried you can always have it delivered to your house
just dont do it all at once

Through online sites?
Things like soil seem like they would be very expensive to ship. I may end up doing this for my lamps though :D
I love online shopping.. So much easier, and you don't have to travel anywhere :D

I'd just be worried about leaving a papertrail.

Wow a full time student and running a 4k grow, you'll be living my dream.

I cant wait til someday I can bail on the 9-5 and live my dream. Life is just too damn short to spend it miserable.

Good luck with all that, and like others said, you cant beat u haul. You can even rent pick-ups from them.

Exactly! :D
This will be my job for the year, and for the time put in I'll definetly bank harder than a 9-5 plus get all of my smoke paid for! I'll also get to enjoy the many benefits/love of growing.
Best of both worlds :dance013:

The only thing needed to do this is the initial startup cash. To get a grow in a house/apt goin is a pretty big blow to my budget but hopefully I can get the funds this summer + after harvest.

I have seen a friend riding his bike with a bail of promix in his back pack. That being said I went 2 years vehicless. Good friends with vehicles are helpful. I also started recycling my medium, only buying 1 bail over a year. Good luck. If you are stubborn, it can be done lol. Peace GS

Haha that's a pretty funny image, one that I may be livin next year :p

I think it can definetly be done.. If I get everything beforehand I shouldn't need to make any more runs to the hydro store, especially if I order online :D

Order everything online delivered directly to the house. Chances are higher you'd get popped making trips to the hydro shop, not to mention the prices are marked up significantly ($40 for a clip-on oscillating fan at my hydro store..)

you can do it. I'm going on 4 yrs running a grow about the same size you stated and I'm car less. the setting things up part I found to be imposible with out a car but once your set up your good to go. I grow either hydroponiclly or I use compressed coco for the sole purpose of being able to fit pretty much everything I need into my back pack. I also have a basket that I can put on my bike if need be.
you can also get saddle bags for your bike wich hold lots of stuff or get a kid hauling trailer. those are great they can hold lots of stuff and they even have covers over them so no one can see what you have with you.

also if your concerned about it, its pretty damn hard to follow some one on a bike.

Running a grow op without a car

I know many students who are carless and ride bikes. I was one for a year. It's gonna be hard without a car for transporting things. Renting a car is an option, if you are old enough, but this is an added cost. In some cities a bike is quicker because of big city traffic and can give you a few extra minutes if it's a SHTF situation. If you have to break the rooms down any extra minutes can mean the difference between busted and safe.
Buying a house is an option, takes the landlord stress out of growing. If not, find a good landlord. Mine is extremly busy (architect) and gives me a headsup when there is maintenance. His time is valuable so he makes sure I know maintenance is coming well in advance.
I caution you about growing during college. It's always on my mind when I'm in classes. I just love the plant so much and enjoy growing it. Luckily I haven't let my grades slip as I enjoy my classes anyway. Seriously man you'll do fine, it's not that hard to do and I know you can do it. Good luck and be safe.

I'm sure you can borrow a car , just make as few trips as possible. I never use my car for trips to hydro stores anyway. good luck you sound like you have a good plan

love?

Yeah hydro is the way to go for a grow that big with no car for sure. Try to figure the closest car rental place with the best opening hours, might be a small help with the "getaway".

Haha that struck home. Good advice. But then again when I'm not growing it's on my mind even more!

I like the cargo vans from uhaul rather than the pickups and they're the same price. Think about it, all your supplies enclosed from purchase to delivery point is nice and the amount of stuff you can move is exactly the same. Good luck!

Yuppp! Just looked at the prices and they're the same. Who wouldn't choose the van? haha

Anyone know if their is an age limit? I'll look it up asap.

EDIT: WOOT! Age limit in Canada is 18. Gotta love CA :D
