Just listened to the NEW Jimi Hendrix, Valleys of Neptune which features 12-unreleased studio recordings... It is brilliant. Totally genius guitar work and arrangements. Dig the awesome "Sunshine of your Love" plus many more.

"Valleys of Neptune documents both the final studio recordings Jimi made in 1969 with the original Jimi Hendrix Experience and the first efforts with new bassist Billy Cox."(promo material)

turn it up!

Wow! I haven't heard of it either. I love Hendrix and have pretty much everything he ever recorded. If you haven't heard it, I highly recommend the Experience Box Set that came out a few years ago.

Now that I've listened to it, I'd agree if you are a Hendrix fan this is a must have. If not, you probably won't be all that excited about it.

There are a few new songs that I've never heard, like the title track, Bleeding Heart, Ships Passing Through the Night, Lullaby for the Summer, and Crying Blue Rain. Some slow and bluesy and some up tempo. And there are a few new versions of familiar tunes. There's a very slow version of Red House and a very different version of Hear My Train A Comin.' I only had 6 versions of Red House and Hear My Train before, so I really needed at least one more of each. Interestingly, there's a song called Mr. Bad Luck, which I used have on another album (different version) called Look Over Yonder. Guess that song was never officially named.

Sure, it's not totally polished, made up from unfinished material Jimi was working on at the time of his death. So what? For me, there's no such thing as bad Hendrix, so anything I've never heard before is GREAT! That makes this a great album.

Gonna def pick this one up.

Sometimes I try to imagine where JH's career would have gone if he could have stayed with us. I tend to think he would have ended up producing for a lot of good artists being that he was AMAZING in the studio.

It is cool to imagine. I think he would have been right up at the forefront of studio producing and technology. His biography shares that he was headed back to more of the "blues" style music towards the end of his life.
I think he was pretty fried on being the super-rock-star and wanted to really delve into the music for musics' sake, not for hit songs.
Definitely seemed to be a wandering soul...:whee:

I was listening to a Jimi Hendrix channel I created on Pandora Online Radio today. Love Jimi. Pink Floyd is my favorite if I am listening to rock though. Really, I am an old RedNeck and I loves my old Outlaw Country-Willie, Waylon, Merle, Cash, David Allen Coe, Hank Williams Jr, etc etc
